We have had plenty of rain the last few weeks. The rain comes in torrential short downpours accompanied by thunder and lightening which has done nothing to ease the forest fire situation here. You could say it is feast or famine with this weather. Hope your situation improves.

We have had plenty of rain the last few weeks. The rain comes in torrential short downpours accompanied by thunder and lightening which has done nothing to ease the forest fire situation here. You could say it is feast or famine with this weather. Hope your situation improves.

We've had a few wildfires here which is unusual for the UK, normally everything's too soggy to burn. We were on holiday in Yorkshire a couple of weeks ago and there was a sign in the cottage asking us not to barbecue and to be very careful if we smoked outdoors as everything was tinder-dry. It's got to be six weeks by now since we had any rain beyond a couple of light showers and even then the ground was dry less than an hour after it stopped.

Normally every day's a surprise when it comes to the weather, lately it's just been dry and hot day after day.

I put an old frying pan out for the birds, filled it with 3 litres of water and it is just gone at the end of each day, the sources of natural water have literally all dried up.

Good to see that many of the supermarkets have pulled disposable barbeques from their shelves, taking such a thing into a tinder dry moorland is going to lead to disaster
