Anyone else noticing Tobs creams a bit thin? Slickness is great but sometimes I feel these creams dont give a great ’cushion’. Maybe the reason is because of too much water but it happens with Tobs creams only.

TOBS creams are not created equal. I've noticed (and these are my personal observations with no objective data whatsoever) that their previous offerings (like Jermyn Street, Eton College, Grapefruit, Sandalwood etc.) are less 'cushiony' and protective than their recent ones (like Royal Forest, Lime, Tobacco).

Very few creams give great cushion. I think it's the design of them.

Soap is more dense and heavy.

I recently bought a new tub of Rose. It's been a long time since I used any cream - TOBs or otherwise - and I remember really enjoying the scent of this one. When I shaved with it the other day I did notice the lack of cushion compared to what I have become accustomed to. My first thought was, "Oh...that's not nearly as good as I remember."

You could say that I had been viewing it through ROSE-tinted spectacles!

It's almost impossible for a cream to stand next to a good quality artisan soap.

The best creams I have used to date are hands down Ach Brito and Antiga Berbearia De Bairro.

Top Secret from Confianca is close to them.

TOBS creams... Just received a couple in the post this morning. Slight disappointment with Avocado, it used to contain Persea Gratissima (avocado oil) which is now missing from the ingredient list

I've used all of TOBS creams, and currently am using the Platinum, Cedarwood, and Eton College. Eton College, being an older version, is not as slick as the Cedarwood, or the Platinum. The newer creams do seem to be more viscous, much like the Executive Shaving creams.

I have some very old TOBS (creams 25 years old) in the zinc tubes: almond and sandalwood, about one-tenth left in each. TOBS was back then an excellent cream. I don’t think it is any more, not by a long shot. Why manufacturers persist in changing good formulas defeats me.

Ask the makers of Xpec -- the EU banned crucial ingrediants.

I've only used one vintage Coates cream for comparison which didn't particularly wow me. I'd say the latest formulations are perfectly adequate but may require more product per shave as they seem to be less concentrated than the creams of last century.
