Would they ship to the UK too at the present?
interestingly I noticed this on the Karve website, which seems to completely contradict Italian Barber:

“IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT BREXIT
TLDR - The ordering process for our customers in the UK will likely remain unaffected now that Brexit is completed.
Karve Shaving Co. is a Canadian company and all of our shipments to the UK originate from Canada.
The UK left the EU on January 31, 2020, and was in a transition period with the EU that ended on December 31, 2020 (aka Brexit).
During the transition period, all trade from Canada to the UK was governed by CETA (the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement).
Now that the transition period has ended, all trade from Canada to the UK is governed by Canada-UK TCA (the Canada-United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement). Canada-UK TCA will ensure that Canadian firms see little to no change in the terms by which they trade with the UK.
Canada and the UK have signed a memorandum of understanding, which lays out commitments each country will take to ensure continued preferential tariff treatment for goods from the date CETA ceases to apply to the UK.
It is likely that trade between Canada to the UK will remain mostly unchanged after the transition period ends. The UK government will likely continue to collect duty and VAT upon entry of your package to the UK.
However, until Canada-UK TCA is fully ratified and implemented, changes may still occur. We will try to stay up to date with our policies, but may need to make changes without notice.”

While I completely understand the stance of companies, especially small ones, that decide they don't want to deal with the extra red tape our government has imposed this is the kind of response that makes me want to buy from them.

I had suspected for the reasons given that this would be the case for goods shipped from Canada and am very happy to see that it looks like it will be going forward too.

I think "It is likely that trade between Canada to the UK will remain mostly unchanged after the transition period ends. The UK government will likely continue to collect duty and VAT upon entry of your package to the UK" is the important bit: "likely" ... alas, "didn't" and now expect everyone else to collect UK Tax at source, not upon entry.

Has anyone asked around whether some of the usual RR stockists here in the UK plan on stocking it, perchance?

To be sure things could change before the deal is finally ratified. I don't see the reason to turn things upside down and change where the VAT is collected from upon entry to at source. It would be fair play for other countries to then insist that would apply to goods shipped from the UK also.

Makes me wonder if there was an over supply of stupid pills that had to be used before the fiscal year ended that lead to this shambles.

Right gents, quick update after having waited ages for my razor to arrive.

First shave wasn‘t great. The second shave I chose the (sharp and smooth) GSB blades and got a great shave from the 0.95 plate. I initially also purchased the DC plate as I thought I might need the reduced exposure and gap on the OC side for my ATG pass. Not so. The 0.95 exposure is nothing to be scared of. They certainly haven‘t copied the WR1 for their higher gapped offerings.

Anyway, the Lupo looks to be everything I was hoping for and didn‘t get from the gamechanger 0.84.

Perhaps one critique though. The head looks very attractive, but this whole „cover the blade tabs“ business means you have to be really careful your fingers don‘t slip when unscrewing the handle. The sides of the top cap where you hold the head when unscrewing are aesthetically pleasing but very narrow.

That’s good to hear as I have the .95 and .72 Lupo on the way and also couldn’t seem to get on with the .84 Gamechanger.

I've been using the sink or a towel on a flat surface to do the final tightening (and initial loosening) for over a year now. Works a treat every time.

I've been eyeing the DC head, but I'd rather buy a 0.95 OC and a 0.72 OC head of each. The trouble is, Joe said they don't plan on making any for now (on Instagram). :-/

@Ventastic and anyone else who got the DC - how do you like the OC side, particularly compared to GC 0.68 OC or JAWS, and the 0.95 SB side, if you don't mind saying?
I sold the DC plate on fairly quickly as I saw no real point in it. As mentioned earlier, I was expecting the .95 plate to be more blade forward and thought the lesser plate would be good for the ATG pass. Turns out this wasn’t the case. Although I really liked the feel of the OC side, the negative aspects of using a DC (more frequent rinsing and more fuss) outweighed.

Now a full OC plate would be interesting. If I recall correctly, the Lupo OC was considerably smoother than any GC OC. I can‘t make any serious statement about efficiency as I could only really tell with a side by side shave and have none of them around anymore.

One more thing perhaps. After several shaves with the Lupo .95, I‘m a bit disappointed they didn‘t make it just a bit more blade forward. I‘ve actually considered giving the baseplate some work with a dremel tool.
