Not really. :woot:

Seems accurate to me.

There is a second definition of 'an advocate or champion of a particular cause or idea'.
Also...

While the protagonist is often “the good guy” at odds with a villain or antagonist, the protagonist can also be an antihero. Whether or not the protagonist is good or evil, the audience is generally supposed to empathize with this person and understand the motivations that propel the character to do what he or she does.

And here I stand. :D

I don't find your theory satisfying. The origin of the Greek word simply means the main or primary character.

I bought a little £20 shop from Just Eat to get some items in quickly, and then found out an hour later there was a code for £10 off I could have used. It's a tiny thing in the grand scheme of world issues... but it's a bloody tenner! A tenner is useful! :D

Modern screws are rubbish!

Trying to fix the fence and the slots burred out before I could get the wretched things sunk in.

Bah!

Recycled using unknown mixed alloys,... screws, nuts and bolts, everything is crap now. Engine builders are having trouble with lifters not surviving break in. We can't have nice things any more.

For decades now or so it seems, purchase price generally seems to be the primary motivating factor for consumers and manufacturers. So many consumer items across the board in most industries are designed first and foremost to be inexpensively mass produced. I’ve learned it often pays to pay more upfront because it generally costs less in the long run. As an example, our decades old hand operated can opener needed replacing. I bought the least expensive of the three options ($8, $12 and $16) two months ago. It sucks. It’s nearly inoperable. I must replace it, only this time will buy the top priced unit.

They were crossheads, might have been Posidrivs, I can’t tell the difference.

steve
That may be part of your problem, Phillips and Pozidriv are not interchangeable. Using the wrong screwdriver can lead to it camming out and ruining the screw head. Pilot holes too small can exacerbate this as you’ll need to use more torque.

There is another forum that talks incessantly about JIS screw heads also.

Whatever that is.

I put some liquid soap on the screw threads and leave the powered driver for other jobs, slow and steady wins the race.
