Mild shavers

@Nishy, I love my Tech and Gillette Black beauty.

Which of your 8 DEs would you say I should try?
Hiya, personally I wouldn't opt to add another variable at this stage. Carry on with finding your best blade. The blade at this stage will make the biggest difference along with software, considering the two razors you mention, are providing excellent shaves. Once you have settled on balde, soap and brush then start thinking what more you would want from your razor. From this point it would be worth considering razor options. This should limit the guessing game which can get expensive :) all IMO of course.

That is my intention already Nishy.
I was just trying to narrow you down LOL
I just thought if I asked from the desert island angle, you would choose something sturdy and reliable, rather than elegant, and aesthetic.

I have to admit just choosing one would be blasphemous far too many positives across the range. At a push it would be the PILS, but it wouldn't be a clear cut choice. The Oristo is highly underated IMO as is the titanium Timeless 0.95mm SB. The Tatara is superb too, jeez it's happening already :)

To be honest, I think that is the only acceptable answer, otherwise why have all 8.

These are my five favourite razors. Mild yet effective is what I do.
What are they please?
Still finding the amount of choice baffling. 2&3 look like Gillette’s to me, but 2 appears to be a non standard handle.
1 also appears to have an unexpected handle, is it a Mamba?
Sorry, Noob-itus

Hiya,

Last 8-10 years there's always been a Frankenrazor in my rotation, always with the Stahly head stuck on various handles. Very mild shavers that can even tame a Feather blade and as easy to waltz around my face as a cartridge would be.

Here's my current set up with a 100mm UFO titanium handle.

1 - Hybrid Tech, 2 - Aristocrat, 3 - Blue Tip Superspeed. Don't know what the others are.

  • Gillette Hybrid Tech
  • Gillette Aristocrat (4th generation - usually found in #66 or #22 sets)
  • Gillette Blue Tip Rocket (not SuperSpeed)
  • GEM MicroMatic Flying Wing (sometimes referred to as Bullet Tip)
  • Schick L1 injector

Thread revival, the Tatara SB has become my favourite mild shaver. The Mamba 0.70 is also a close contender but I prefer the design of the Tatara.

The razor I can always count on to shave without any irritation whatsoever (especially on my neck) is the venerable Progress -- still hailed as one of the greatest shavers ever made.

I did enjoy the Progress, just couldn't befriend the head, too bulky (even though I enjoy the PILS) and hard to shave under the nose? Same with the Megress, although this got rid of that plastic end :)

Hi guys,

For me, in this category the winners are Paradigm SE Ti (with a Feather Pro), Gibbs adjustable (setting 2 and a Rapira Plat Lux) and Karve D (with a feather). ;-)
