Turntable and HiFi

Hi Gents
I'm in the middle of a house re vamp and now have started on my once Dining Room. It did always house my Hi-fi and lots of DJ record boxes for my 7" vinyl collection. Finally going from Beige and Brown a la' 1980's to a more modern Black, Grey colour scheme.
I'm excited for the change but my pride of place goes to my Linn Sondek. Unfortunately it is in the classic Afromosia Teak colour, complete with fluted sides. It just sticks out like a Blind Cobblers Thumb. What to do with it though? A new Plinth is around £550/£1000 depending on who's you buy and in what finish, then there is the dismantle of the deck and fitting the new Plinth plus associated re set of the Linn. I'm heading for a hefty bill. I could buy a cheaper deck but the Linn was a boyhood dream for me as a skint 16 yr old, I always wanted one and grafted to get one.
If I painted it, I'm entering a World of pain, devaluing it and possibly ruining it due to the finish on the wood. It may react and not take. No painting is out.
A few years ago I Vinyl wrapped my speakers with great success.
Quality automotive vinyl is great stuff, it doesn't bubble and it is just sticky enough to stay put but can still be peeled off without causing damage, anyway, I'll be dead before I change my deck so it's only a problem if I am diagnosed with something nasty then I'll frantically sell everything I have in order to fund a massive hedonistic lifestyle until I croak.
If you haven't nodded off, which is a distinct possibility then here she is, vinyl wrapped in a matching satin Black vinyl. I think it looks O.K. Hope you Guys agree?

The Linn Sondek LP12 has sort of become the rabbit hole of turntables with so many upgrades over the years. It’s quite difficult to keep track of them. Mine is a 1982 with a Rega arm which would love to upgrade to a late version of the nickel Ittok. The Koetsu MC cartridge is special if you ever get a chance to listen to it. Happy listening.

Hi,
Like Wet Shaving it is only a Rabbit Hole if you allow it to become one. I have been happy listening to my record collection on mine for some 20 years now and it only has been upgraded once to a Cirkus bearing, which was done free by my dealer as he had one lying about doing nothing.
As for the Koestsu, it is well out of my price bracket and for me it is just over priced esoterica so no chance of me ever hearing one or wanting one.
I’m about as far from a Linn fanboy as you can get although I did own a Basik turntable many years ago but a LP12 is just a classy and very special turntable.
Great work.
Thank you.

While I don't consider myself an audiophile my stereo is very serious to me. Have been working on it for over 16 years and always have a dedicated room. Listen most evenings 2-4 hours.

Amp - Luxman 800a

PreAmp - Audible Illusions

Speakers - Wilson Benesch Trinity and Taurus combination.

Current phono stages - Rossner & Sohn Canofer, EAR 834P, ZXY Artisan

TT - 2 Garrard 401s, both currently in for service and custom replinths for both with two tonearms each.

Decided on tonearms and cartridges I already have for the first 2 combinations. Schroeder ebony tonearm with Transfiguration Orpheus cartridge and an early rewired SME 3012 with an Ortofon SPU Meister Silver. Both combinations work great together.

For front end also run a Technics 1520 reel to reel. Lucky I started collecting 1st or 2nd generation master tapes many years ago.

Drove crappy cars for many years and put the money I saved into my stereo instead. Cars are long gone but the stereo still sounds great.

Sounds like a lovely system. Would be great to see some photos when you get chance.

I heard the Transfiguration Orpheus cartridge when I went for a demo for my Well Tempered deck. Really impressed.

My mediocre separates is still in my Mam and Dads attic, replaced by a Majority K2 soundbar @£80. I do not miss the separates at all.
Similar story here. One of those sat next to the TV and a Sony SRSXB32L for music from laptop (my whole collection has been digitised as FLAC files and also put into storage)

The cartridge can produce a very musical midrange. Detail and transparency good throughout.

Also have a ZYX Universe but the cartridge is hyper detailed and I find it fatiguing to listen to which is why it is up for sale.

I’m a newbie to vinyl, but in the new year I picked up a Rega P2 and it’s fantastic. Only way I was allowed was if I paired with Sonos speakers (Era 300) as everyone in the house uses them, I think a set of speakers would have sounded better but to my ears this stereo pair are decent. Plus if I want to stream I still can, and for sure Dolby Atmos soundtracks like Interstellar and Dune sound incredible.

I've heard good things about Sonos but never actually heard one playing, that's a funky minimalist vinyl setup. Rega are decent, I had various bits of theirs over the years, turntables and speakers being the standout items.

I really appreciate a good hi-fi setup, and this thread has more than a few great ones.

Sadly for me, i am afflicted by military grade tinnitus and a below average budget.

My setup is modest but it works. It is really a home theater kit, but used more for music - mostly Spotify and CDs... transitioning to vinyl is a step too far for me, although I wish I could!

Here are the components:
HT Amplifier : Yamaha RX-V667
Front : Q Acoustics 3050i
Rear : Q Acoustics 3020i
Sub : Hsu Research VTF-2 Mk4
Centre : Yamaha NS-C12

The Hsu sub is really the standout of the system and can literally shake windows, but behaves itself when set right for music. The Q Acoustics are fantastic value. I'm using a cheap Samsung blu-ray player for all disc's, but looking to change that up at some point. The Yamaha centre is also on the upgrade list.

I got rid of my CD collection many years ago unfortunately, which is why I started a vinyl collection, where so far I have bought albums I love, as for everything else I have the traditional streaming service. Your set up sounds great and Q Acoustics speakers are certainly well thought of, and what I love about music it doesn't matter the cost to the individual, its the music that is more important.

I think you could have a hifi set up 30 years old and would rival a top set up today, I regret selling in my teenage years my hifi separates.
