Thank you for the review! I really appreciate your effort! Great photos as well! After reading it, I feel totally fine I didn’t buy it and chose the Alpha Spirit instead. I have the Vector with both the standard and lite plates, so I don’t think I’m missing out much. Thanks!

No if you look at the handle yes the dots protrude but the handle head is angled.

If you put a normal handle on it will change the angle of the razor head.
I just grabbed the handle from my Excalibur.

Yes technically it can still attach but at the cost of the shave IMHO for what that is worth.
Thanks dor the reply with info i couldn't see from your first photos, and i see your point. However, i have a question: what's the cost of trying it out? You won't know util then...

Right here it is, the very first on hands review of the long awaited Tatara SE razor.
First things first I want to get out of the way my stance on Magnets. I think they can be useful in helping a razor but I don't like the idea of relying on them for the razor to function, should they fall out or move position you have an expensive paperweight and I feel they solve a problem that was never really there just to seem hip.
I want to be fair though and have heard these Magnets do not have a glue or epoxy but are heat pressed. I have no idea what that means I am not an engineer but I feel more confident.
I also emailed Tatara last night informing them that I brought the razor second hand and would that effect the warranty. Hats off to Tatara they confirmed they will cover any faults if they arise and that folks is what sorts the hams from the professionals, and tells me they are confident in their product and now so am I.
Now back to the razor, upon first opening the box it comes with just the razor and a care leaflet, no blades.
I popped it out and immediately got alarmed by a small rattle sound coming from the head, it turns out that the little screw that holds the head to the handle was loose and needed tightening back up.

Screw already showing signs of use, who used slotted screws these days? ☹

Second shave and a quick review because I have things to say.
The second shave was a lot better than the first, I used a slightly different angle and got a little more blade feel on the face.
I managed to get a cut free bbs with less strokes so it's definitely getting better.
Let's talk magnets.
I have always used a little plastic tumbler that I fill with warm water and then place my brush into it to soak whilst I prep my face, once I remove the brush I usually drop my razor of choice into the water to warm whilst I am lathering.
On this occasion I pulled the Tatara out of the tumbler and was about to start shaving and I noticed something was wrong.
I looked into the tumbler and there sat the top cap, it had obviously gripped the narrow part of the cup and then was pulled off when I pulled the razor out.
I never felt it come off and yes I can always use a wider tumbler but my point is, it has never happened before and would not have happened if it was screwed onto the head.
Not a huge issue but something to mention as well as having to leave the razor in two parts to dry.
I promise hand on heart I am not intentionally looking to bash magnets, I am just calling it as they arise.
A big plus side and the reason I wanted to make this post is about my head shave.
I judge superb razors by how good they can shave my face and head, I own and have used some fantastic razors that shave lovely on the face but sucked a@@ when it comes to head shaving.
I can unequivocally say the Tatara Amakuni razor is simply superb at the head shave on par with my Vector easily.
I feel that the already angled head on the sloped handle plays a big part of it and it might take my SE top spot for shaving my head.
If you are a head shaver then you will love this razor and I would imagine you will be more than happy with the face shave.

That's it for this post and will summarise my thoughts later once I have given it a fair run.

So far so good.
Ps forgot to mention I have tried unscrewing the top cap off a couple of times because I forgot about it just pulling off and not having the screw thread.
I will get used to it I am sure.

I think they did a survey or asked about the interest in a SE or GEM a few years back, so a GEM maybe on the way?
