No… not a bad lather day as such. I knew exactly what I was getting into and came prepared. Still, I wanted to find out how the Marvy performs on its own. Here is the rather sad face-lathering result.

Marvy is a classic old-school barbershop Soap, so foam yes, lather no. Minimal cushion, no skin care to speak of. A good balm or moisturizer after the shave is not optional, it is essential. That said, it has brutal residual slickness and ghost lather. An honest shave and no frills.
