Today I went slightly Vintage and broke out my superb Gillette Slim Twist that is also my birth year razor.
It gave me an excellent two pass face shave and mixed with a good dose of Vintage Old Spice aftershave means my wife is going to be a lucky lady tonight, if she behaves ha ha.

when it’s smooth I’m loving it. Nice and light and the right level of blade feel for my preference- I just need to find out why it’s sometimes harsh and that might be the blade or the weight of it with a Ti handle.
It does! I’ve not found many razor heads to suit the looks of the Kalyon but the Mellon seems to. With this handle the whole thing weighs only 95g and I mostly like razors less than 100g plus this makes it very handle heavy- again a plus for me.The Kalyon handle looks pretty good with a double open comb head, doesn't it?

I've only had two shaves with mine, but I think it might be an angle thing - unless I strived to ride the cap, it felt a touch rough. The cap is pretty thick, which doesn't help much.
On the other hand, even though it didn't feel particularly smooth most of the time, that relative lack of smoothness helped me keep the angle better.
I think I machined Blackbird OC would look fine with it.
Here's one with a PAA Evolution top cap with a HLS Start 2 OC base plate (on the left) and PAA Ascension (on the right, an earlier version of the handle) on it:

This is the third DE razor I tried in my wet shaving journey about 20 years ago. Even with 20 years of relocation and fairly regular use it still gives a good shave consistently. This Russian Astra is the best I have in my inventory. I did two passes and a little ight buffing on the trouble spots. I got a slight irritation which the Afta took care of. The really ripped abs completed the scent profile. I can't decide whether it smells like expensive cologne or penatrating oil. There are votes on both sides from the voices in my head.
