I've tried several soaps in stick form over the past 5 years, but still have a preference for pucks on a day to day basis.

For travel, and occasional home use, I use these 4 sticks.

Gibbs No.53 (tallow), Sir Irisch Moos (tallow), La Toja (tallow) and La Toja (current veggie).

I think Tabac is better.
But, of course, with SIM being suddenly discontinued, everyone went ballistic to have one.
Vintage Gibbs or other European sticks from the '50s are shockingly good soaps.

I've also heard reasonable reports about the DR Harris sticks, but I haven't actually used one myself.

I use the IM aftershave, but the old shavestick is just one of those itches I may never get to scratch.

Tabac or SIR? Definitely a YMMV thing. Personally, I've never liked the scent of Tabac. An easy decision for me.

Gibbs is an exceptionally good soap. Performance wise, the best of my bunch.

Talking about the Sir Irisch Moos. Heard so many good things. Not a fan of Tabac myself, smells like the the inside of an old mans back pocket.

Due to this thread I just used my La Toja stick. Lovely shave!

Love Arko and used it today in fact. Never fails to impress me and provide a good shave. You can get 12 for around £11 delivered this side of t'pond. Bargains! Much cheapness! Derby is pretty good too in stick form as is the old reliable Palmolive. I find Arko slicker and more explosive with the lather than old Mr P but it's still good stuff. Quite fond of the Wilkie stick but it's crap value compared to Palmolive and Arko nor is it easy to track down. Used to be that you could get it in local independent chemists for around 70p but it's over £2 nowadays and that's if you can find the ruddy stuff. Better scent and colour than Palmolive and slicker too, I find but there's so little in it.

Never had the pleasure of Speick, Tabac and some of the other costlier sticks. I do applaud ye of much industry who make your own. Too damn lazy me!
