Re. My shavemac 'Finest'. How does Bernd "repair" a shedding brush?

^^^ Don't quite understand that... I did get hold of him, he did have it returned to him, he did send it back, it still sheds and doesn't look like it's had a new knot in it. I will contact him again and suggest it hasn't been "repaired" and does, in fact, need a new knot.
Ignore me. I was doing some painting and very quickly skim read! I was chatting crap!

I would have thought he would have put a new knot in but sounds like it's had a wash and a comb?

Monday evening... I did ask that safe receipt of my communication be acknowledged. So we must guess no-one has read it yet. Still early days though... patience is a virtue etc... :)

Reply gratefully received from Bernd this afternoon.

Bernd has asked for the brush to be returned again so that he can fit a new knot this time (it didn't get that last time). He asked for it to be returned because the handle is inscribed with the TSR Limited Edition details - but I could live without that inscription and have said he can use a plain new handle if it saves him drilling out the old knot - will see what he prefers to do and, if requested, will return the brush to him.

It's not the end of the world and Bernd has readily agreed to replace the knot this time so have no complaints.

Thanks to the fellas here for advice etc.

Ask for your postage to be refunded, both lots, or cheeky discount on another brush.
The brush is faulty and the postage is therefor at the sellers expense...

Yes, I can see that's something that wouldn't be thought unacceptable given that the knot has developed a tangible defect.

However, I'm bearing in mind that almost everyone that has had dealings with Bernd has spoken highly of his integrity and his products... so, on this occasion, rather than cause possible dissent or unpleasant feeling, I'm prepared to bear the cost of the postage. I think if it had been a more "anonymous/commercial" and less personal outfit then it would be different, but Nishy, and many others here, have had many dealings with him and I don't want to be thought of as being the awkward old bugger who causes bad feeling. And if Bernd agrees to providing a new handle it would save the second lot of postage.

Thanks for advice and suggestions.

As long as your happy Kevin, that is all that matters :okay:

Things are taking their course... eventually. Admittedly the response to emails is a tiny bit variable. I suppose there are a couple of things to bear in mind - there is a bit of a language thing and you're never quite sure that you've made your self clear in what you're saying.....you send an email and may, or may not, get a reply - or if you do they haven't addressed the particular point you raised or haven't confirmed that they've understood what you're trying to say.

A certain amount of time has, admittedly, passed, but, as of yesterday, I've had it confirmed that Bernd will use a new blank handle and fit a new knot in it. This is subsequent to my suggestion that (a) I don't have to send my old brush back again... and (b) he starts from scratch but, as is mutually agreed, he doesn't, or cannot, for whatever reason, inscribe it with the original "Limited Edition inscription / issue number" etc. This will save me posting back and save him from having to drill the old knot out.

So, in the scheme of things, it's not the end of the world and he has, ultimately, been good enough to provide a proper fix to the problem. I can easily live without the inscription on the base of the brush and, who knows, maybe if I keep on using the old brush it might even either stop it's moulting, or, run out of hairs and just leave the handle with nothing in it ? :)

Sounds like a good result to me!

Final (hopefully) update. Replacement received today. Was sent - and arrived - quickly and was well packed, as usual. Same style and colour handle with a new "Finest" knot. Will give it it's first run out tomorrow.

Sorted! Ta for observations and thoughts.
