Preferred Knot Size

I'm considering making a bronze detailed brush and would be interested in your preferred brush sizes just to give me a rough idea on what to produce as I may go into production in the future if all goes well.

Honestly, totally depends on the knot... Badger? I'm a 22mm guy all day long but boar and synth I prefer larger 24-26mm. Funnily I think these days 24mm is probably considered medium while in decades past it would have been XL.

I've almost entirely been using 22mm wide boar knots over this year, for synths mainly but with occasional use of 24mm sized ones. IMO 26mm+ feels like face lathering with a mop!

I like a 24mm 2 band badger knot and the Semogue SOC 2 band badger is a favourite. The handle on that model is comfortable in the hand for both face or bowl lathering and is 57mm in height.

I like variety, from 18mm to 30mm, they all offer a unique experience, but 22 to 24 would make most people happy.

I find it depends on the knot, its density, properties and how the knot is set.
I generally prefer my brushes set as high as they can be, because I like to use all of the fibre.
It doesn't suit all brushes, as it can damage their fibres over time, though.

I actually like floppier as well as denser brushes with more backbone, as long as they don't hog lather.
I do prefer 24mm+, and most of my current brushes are at about 28mm, give or take a few milimetres up and down, but I do have a variety now.

22 mm is my sweet spot for badger and boar, fan and bulb; I don’t use synthetic or horse. I will go to 24 mm in exceptional circumstances. Anything bigger would smother me.

26mm knots make up the bulk of my brushes. I have and use smaller and larger sizes, but not nearly as often as 26mm.

I love my 24mm SOC. But now I have a 26mm Pegasus, which I also love.
I'm not even sure I notice any difference.
