Hmmm…don’t get the patina thing. Prefer a good shine, or real wear.
Each to his own of course.

It gives the appearance of Damascus steel, fake I know, but I am a lover to patina on things. I have heat treated titanium in the past to get patina and in particular the different colours you get. At work at the moment but will post a few pictures when I get home.Hmmm…don’t get the patina thing. Prefer a good shine, or real wear.

In the case of carbon steel it works like blueing and makes it rust-resistant.Hmmm…don’t get the patina thing. Prefer a good shine, or real wear.

Probably closer to browning a gun barrel than blueing it.In the case of carbon steel it works like blueing and makes it rust-resistant.
Doesn't browning make it go, well, brown? Most photos I've seen of the Opinels they've gone dark grey / black. One chap did his with apple cider vinegar and it went a lovely black.Probably closer to browning a gun barrel than blueing it.
