It gives the appearance of Damascus steel, fake I know, but I am a lover to patina on things. I have heat treated titanium in the past to get patina and in particular the different colours you get. At work at the moment but will post a few pictures when I get home.

Doesn't browning make it go, well, brown? Most photos I've seen of the Opinels they've gone dark grey / black. One chap did his with apple cider vinegar and it went a lovely black.
