One of my favorite knives, pity we cannot own automatic knives in the UK, otherwise I would be all over that Microtech UTX-70Microtech UTX-70View attachment 134784
My understanding Is that the UK only permits slip joint knives and no lock backs. Even here, automatic knives are restricted in some states. One of my favorite knives, pity we cannot own automatic knives in the UK, otherwise I would be all over that Microtech UTX-70
You're allowed to own lock knives and fixed blades, in fact you're allowed to own anything that isn't on the prohibited list, eg flick knives. The crux is that you're not allowed to carry a knife without a good reason, the exemption being a folding knife (non-locking) with a blade cutting length not in excess of three inches. My understanding Is that the UK only permits slip joint knives and no lock backs. Very informative. It makes sense. You're allowed to own lock knives and fixed blades, in fact you're allowed to own anything that isn't on the prohibited list, eg flick knives. You can carry a Swiss Army knife, for example, just in case it might come in handy. Anything over three inches, fixed, locking etc you need to demonstrate a lawful reason why you have it with you - examples would include taking home a knife you've just bought, knives you need for your job (chefs, carpet fitters etc) that kind of thing. Religous reasons and national costume are also exemptions but probably don't apply to most people.
Nice,I have a Microtech SOCOM Elite, extremely well made knivesMicrotech UTX-70View attachment 134784
I got one of those at Christmas, it's brilliant! Extremely sharp out of the box and small enough to keep on my keychain. I added a short lanyard to make it easier to attach to the ring which also effectively gives more purchase.
The carbon steel versions are very able to be as sharp as any knife I own.Now this could be one dangerous thread...
I only have my Opinel #6 and so far it's doing what I need from a knife.
Having said that..there are some good looking ones posted here already...
