I don't think that will change just because a few thousand people stop using badger brushes. China does many things that bother many people and China doesn't care what anyone thinks about what they do. There are bigger battles that need to be fought.
I agree that it won't change anything, they're primarily killing the badgers because they're a pest. I can understand why people would choose not to buy the brushes though.

For me the Badger hair brush was always too expensive. The Atomic Rocket made from the skinned hide of an abused Syn spoiled me forever.

The killing process for the Syn is to slit the neck keeping it alive. Then slapping it around and hanging upside down. Lastly the Syn is shot. This preserves the natural oils making the bristles soft. LOL!!!

Some force the Syn to listen to recordings of autocrats for hours. Some say this enhances the use....LOL!! Makes it able to absorb more.

I think most people can do more than one thing at a time rather than only what’s convenient to em. So the argument that there are other things we could be doing falls flat and ends up sounding lazy and self serving.

It’s called the “what about this” argument.

Realistically, it does not matter what any individual or group do to protest anything that the Chinese government does. So far it has all fallen on deaf ears.

Spend your time productively, don't piss into the wind.

" lazy and self serving." You just can't help yourself can you, calling people names and trying to act superior.

Spend your time? Not doing something takes no time. It takes no effort whatsoever. I don’t think people have discontinued using badger brushes because they figured it would influence the Chinese government anyway. I guess I could be wrong.

I’m expressing that something sounds lazy and self serving…. It’s up to you If you want to turn that into a personal attack.

Whataboutisms are usually used to cover the real reasons people have to justify their crazy hairbrained ideas on life. The proverbial sweeping of dirt under the rug for light internet conversation.
