and do you think you really need all this crap to have a good shave? The Compendium lists the Gravin Heat-Shaver, that you had to plug in for a minute before shaving, plug out when it gets too hot (lol), as well as a model VibroShave.
I had thought that maybe they were trying to say it's not synthetic menthol, which is a thing according to Wikipedia. However, it also seems to be a relatively recent development.Did you notice that the can is labelled "mint menthol"? So it's hot, but cooling?

If you really want to melt whiskers off, absolutely. ;-)and do you think you really need all this crap to have a good shave?

No I don't, I just commented that Gillette may present this now, but they're hopelessly behind the times: their new invention was shown unusable over 50 years ago.and do you think you really need all this crap to have a good shave?
A different market 50 years ago, people did not put up with such fancy sales gimmickry. I think it's a shame really, this reflects how shallow minded and deep some peoples pockets are compared with yesteryear consumers. No I don't, I just commented that Gillette may present this now, but they're hopelessly behind the times: their new invention was shown unusable over 50 years ago.
Old thread. When I first saw an ad for one of these things I laughed, chuckled to myself, at how ridiculous this entire idea actually is. Maybe not conceptually, but the inventors of this razor for Gillette never really considered the practical aspects of such a device. Isn't that always the way? I have been going scruffy lately so haven't been shaving much other than to trim my beard with an electric thing as of late. Nowhere near as enjoyable as a proper shave but that has been my life in recent years. Slowly changing that though. As I see it I have all the shaving gear I need and can easily take it all to my grave without having to buy a single shaving related item. And I haven't purchased any shaving gear in over 5 years. I always say Keep It Simple Stupid. KISS. Nothing simpler than a double edge razor, blade, a brush, some soap, aftershave and towel for when you are done. Gillette will never be able to produce anything that will replace the simple elegance and shaving perfection that can come from a double edge razor. Just my two cents.I was going to buy one of these for a bit of fun as they're seemingly now on a permanent 50% off sale but then I read the reviews
Seems to be some design fault or inferior parts being fitted by the factory as they all die between 1-6 weeks of use with many reviewers on the Gillette website saying they're now on their third replacement. I expect this model will be retired once the reduced price stocks are gone.
I've now owned one for a month or so, previously thought they would discontinue it due to the sheer volume of reported power issues however I was wrong - Gillette have partnered with Braun to solve the issues and for the most part, they seem to have been successful.I'm glad I dodged the Bullet, this was the razor I was going to buy after using a Gillette fusion for 15 years. The feedback here helped change my mind and veer me towards a Muhle R89 and a Rockwell 6. No looking back after that

I have stuck with Fusion 5 as my cart of choice. I look round for large pack discounts from reputable vendors and can generally get them for around £1.50 per cart.I'm glad I dodged the Bullet, this was the razor I was going to buy after using a Gillette fusion for 15 years. I think it's amazing that the Fusion 5 can be put to good use. I have many mates of mine who have stuck with and swear by their cartridge razors. Somehow, they never worked for me. I always had razor burn, a ton of painful bumps after each shave and used to avoid shaving as much as I could, limiting myself to one or two shaves a month unless it was necessary to go through the pain.I have stuck with Fusion 5 as my cart of choice. I predominantly shave with DE and get great results, but the Fusion 5 Proglide is a very good razor for finishing off the difficult areas with its wobbly head i have found. The edging blade on the back is fantastic for getting right under the nose too.
On those rarer occasions that i want the absolute best BBS, then its a DE shave followed by a VERY light run over with Fusion 5 and plain water to get those last stragglers on the neck and under the chin.
Used this way, a Fusion 5 cart easily lasts me more than a month (altho the useless lube strip will likely have died before then)
