Feather and Kai shaves

Seems like you did some daily doubles with your shavette?
I passed through the double phase fairly quickly once I had the lower lip and nostril technique down. Shaved with them for maybe 25+ shaves back to back almost to break the back of it. That with a really good soap - in my case the Signature Range - made a big difference. It has a slickness was which makes mopping up leftover areas a doddle. I enjoyed DE shavette shaving in fact all types. I enjoy the learning of a new technique and when Estariol helped me find the clones then I was happy to try AC.

I await the injector shavette now when it arrives for you...

Oh, it’s arriving early, maybe tomorrow or Monday. I’ll let you know.

I didn’t stretch my neck skin sufficiently and as a result I’m left with stubble. You can’t see it, but I feel it.
This often happens on the concave areas on my neck as well, but not because of stretchinng, but the hair growth direction. Sometimes i get it right, sometimes i don't. Sometimes i succesfully sort it out, sometimes not. I learned the hard way not to try too hard to sort it out. Not worth the effort.

From a hobbyist view, it is understandable that we would seek to satisfy our curiosity on all things related to shaving. It is why I have a late '40's ladies Schick injector holder, or a Barbasol Floating Head, or a early '30's Goodwill Gillette DE, or too many self honed straight razors.

Watching our friend become interested and invested in acquiring and using RBSR is no surprise to us. It is what we do. We might continue or pursue something else, but it is all a part of the process of learning and experimentation. It's a healthy endeavor.

I used a AC Feather SS with a three-use Professional Super blade to achieve a repeat quality of Saturday's shave.

Maybe we all do this, but I have a finger under the tail or kamisori handle. I cannot remember if I just adapted or if I read others do it. I do this as much as possible with a honed straight where the tail is short. This frees the index and middle to roll as needed.

Thanks for the validation and support. The no-worries-I’ll-shave-again-tomorrow attitude always made sense with safety razors. But because of my recent superior shaves in general, maybe subconsciously I’ve expected more bbs-like results than perhaps is warranted at this stage. Must remember the old shavers’ adage, “don’t chase the baby.”

Pity that Kai never replied.

Anyhoo, so I was looking at Weck style folding shavettes and kept reading how they feel more like using huge GEM blades... do you guys use a Weck or similar in addition to AC shavettes?

Nicked myself today trying to work closely around the van dyke. I came in at the wrong angle and a bit too fast. It stopped with cold water rinsing between passes. Alum and aftershave were bereft of sting.
