Razor: Blackbird SB
Blade: Gillette Platinum (3)
Brush: AP Shave Co. 28mm SynBad
Soap: Extro Freddo
Pre: Proraso Green
ASL: Proraso Green
ASB: Proraso Green

It's going to be another hot day so why not start the day with some cooling products? The last time I used the Freddo, the scent of vegetable fat dominated the shave. It was there again for the first pass but was then overtaken by eucalyptus.

This was a fantastic shave. The Freddo was really slick. The Blackbird and I also clicked and I'm left with a trouble free BBS finish. It all came together in this shave.

The residual slickness remains on par with the other Extro soaps but the combination of the slickness and correct angle for the Blackbird meant the single strokes did exactly what they needed to do without the need to go back over.

I forgot to take a SOTD photo. Fitting really as this shave was a disappointment. The Blackbird and GP did their thing well but I'm under enthused by the O' Selvaggio. The scent is barely there once lathered and there was a slight tingle once applied. Not to the same level as the A&E soaps a couple of weeks ago but enough for me to notice it was there. Performance of the soap was acceptable in terms of slickness and residual slickness but I can't see me reaching for this one again.

My trigger finger is getting itchy! I will have to get some more samples ... I am coming round to the opinion that I like Italian soaps. I tested Stirling's Lemon Chill yesterday and was not a fan, performance was good enough but what's with this Menthol lunacy? Shaving should be a pleasure! My eyes were streaming as if I'd peeled a couple of pounds of onions.

Of course I'll have to finish the sample off.

Razor: Blackbird SB
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge (1)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Black Marble
Soap: Extro Felce Biancospino
Pre: Proraso Cypress and Vetiver
ASL: TGS Amber Fougere
ASB: RSC

A great shave today. BBS finish from 3 passes. The 7OC blades is an excellent partner to the Blackbird. The Felce Biancospino is potentially my favourite scent in the Extro range. It forms a minty green coloured lather that performs flawlessly and the green fern scent is divine. It's going to be a day of faceturbation with the finish I've got. The Amber Fougere ASL also smells great but there's something in there that disagrees with my skin.

Hmm, I have less info than I thought... Will share what I have anyway.

Extro Freddo: "First use of the Freddo and what a great croap it is... Nice and cooling with a very natural clean eucalyptus scent (not like that Proraso Green camphorous stink.)"

Extro Positano: "Had such a good experience with Extro Tabacco I decided to grab another set and couldn't resist the temptation of "the Amalfi coast in a bottle". Was delivered by the postie first thing so I managed to use it for my SOTD... Scent is quite subdued when sniffed from the tub and bottle, "hmm disappointingly mild" I thought, well let me tell you the scent explodes once its on your face. Lather quality was superb, perhaps even better than tabacco but the scent was so strong it gave me a really itchy shave where my whole face was telling me something wasn't right! Battled on through it and finished with the matching splash, which turned out to be even stronger. My face was on fire for a few minutes, it died down to a itch after I applied some Proraso sensitive balm. I can still smell it very strongly, my face seems to have recovered and actually I have the smoothest BBS in a long time with really supple, hydrated skin. Performance was spot on but I can't face that burning sensation ever again!"

Extro Tabacco: I can't find what I wrote about this one but do recall the superb performance and great scent... The only reference I can find is me saying that I much preferred it to Santa Maria Novella Tabacco Tuscano, yes really! Of all those I tried Tabacco and Bay rum (no reviews of that either sadly, it seems I post more when I dislike something lol) were my favourites, in fact I might pick up some more

Although the tobacco scent is really well done I much prefer SMN tabacco toscano.

YMMV for sure. I suppose a bit of background is required when making such a statement so I'll provide it: I've not liked anything from SMN so it's no miracle I prefer the Extro, good as it is. I appreciate their rich history, like many English brands but don't rate the products at all (same goes for the English brands, so I'm not picking on SMN :p: )

No English brands at all?
