A degree or a marketable skill is an advantage. We decided to raise our family on one income and stay out of debt. The children didn’t have a student loan. The vehicle I drive was purchased in 2001 with 64k miles. The property and structures were paid for when we sold it. I realized I didn’t need to make more, but spend less. Not suggesting it was easy, but you have to learn how to grow professionally by improving yourself. Learn how to interview and writing a resume that addresses what the employer needs is important. Never stop being willing to learn something new. Go for the promotion. Don’t be afraid to get another job. Don’t get comfortable or discouraged. Stay with it. Focus on those you love.

I would not argue that many younger people don't want jobs where they have to get their hands dirty. You can build quite a few houses with a few key skilled/qualified trades people, but the rest are just plain unskilled lobourers.

Creating more military jobs, police and firefighting jobs only drains more money from the public purse as that is where they are paid for from. You can take tariff money from the budget to pay for those types of jobs but that will do little to reduce the national debt. When you do that the national debt just keeps getting bigger.

Well if you do not have the skilled trade people you can't build much, yes you also need no low skill labors, who still have to have a work ethic. Where I live most Law Enforcement Department are short staffed, and Fire Service is also facing same problem. The money I already in State, County, or city Budget for the First Responders. :Problem is getting the qualified applicants, that are physically fit, drug free, no criminal record, and last can pass pre employment testing, and background checks.

I was born smack in the middle of the boomer generation age. I started full time work in the early 1970s and then watched the economy, slowly at first, then more rapidly deteriorate till it is where we are today. I do not envy any of the later generation's economic situation. Where things go from here, I have no clue and fear we are on the edge of a societal collapse with a blue-collar middle class that is a mere shadow of its former self. Without a healthy middle class there is no stability in a democratic and capitalistic society.

I did. It's somewhere aroumd 110,000 to 120,000. Oh I'm sure now we'll hear about how bad he makes it for his employees. I'll get to that in a minute.

If more people would strive to imitate whatever he has done to find that kind of success instead of sit around crying about how much the boss makes there would be a higher quality of life for more people and higher productivity all around. Instead of expecting the company, government or whatever other nebulous entity they imagine they are beholden to to spoon feed them while they invest nothing, risk nothing, imagine nothing and create nothing more than their organgrinder teaches them to they should go out and do somerhing amazing. That's how you succeed, not by forcing the capitalists who take on all the risk, all the initiative and all the creative juices to fuel an economy and CREATE all those jobs.

These same people who spend every waking hour thinking about how much the CEO makes AGREED to the wages they make when they signed on. So go get a better job if it isn't enough. So make yourself more valuable instead of just punching the clock and doing the bare minimum. Or go educate yourself if that's what it takes (and that DOESN'T just mean in schools of higher.learnimg). Go find a problem and figure out how to fix it. Go see a need and figure out how to meet it. Go find something lacking and figure out how to provide it. That's what I did.

Don't you see? Unions by their very nature are the bastions of laziness. It says I am powerless on my own so I have to link arms with all the other ants and storm the picnic basket, WHICH, btw they did nothing to create. They foster an adversarial attitude in the workplace: "the boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. That's why I crap on company time."

I give credit to the unions for their purpose at the time they were created. There was no labor board then. There was no FTC. There were no labor laws...but there are now. Time to say bye bye to the vestigial organ. They are so desparate to prove their worth now that they create problems to solve. Hell, they played chicken with the manufacturers and lost (as did we ALL) and are still crying fowl because those damn greedy vemture capitalists have the nerve to seek a return on their investment. THE NERVE! They are so hell bent that they would sink the ship rather than see the captain have control of the vessel. Well, if I were on that ship I'd throw their deck swabbing butts overboard.

Time to wake up and smell the union.

I recall reading about mRNA technology during the recent pandemic that reminded me of the thousands of students who decided to enter the health care delivery system. If you go to the hospital today in the US, most likely the person taking care of you will be under 45. These are the people who worked two jobs to get through medical school or 36 hour shifts as an intern.

The problem, it seems to me, is that people live by personal anecdotes or they see nothing good or can only see something to complain about. They forget they can go on vacation, and the roads are paved, the gas stations have fuel, the restaurants are open, the beach or swimming pool is clean, and if you have an accident, someone is around to helicopter you out. There is more that is good than there is bad.

There exist couples who decide to adopt difficult to place babies, some with severe deformities, whose day job is at NASA. These are nobodies who know one knows about which allows a society to thrive. They are the people who rush in as others are rushing out. They are the people most parents hope their children will become.

I think we have to ask ourselves, what are we doing to make a difference in someone's life on a daily basis. Are they better off because I am alive and paying attention? Do I really see people? Am I trying to understand them? Do I care? As old preacher used to ask his congregation, "are you standing on the promises or sitting on the premise"? We have more than enough in the audience looking. We need more doers.
