Blackland End of an Era

I've buckled. I've been considering buying an Era for a while now but the fact Blackland are stopping production has made me pull the trigger.

Ordered the Era with the Level 2 SB which should suit my needs as someone who shaves most days and likes his razors on the mild side. Got an extra 10% off as a new customer too so that'll offset the $20 shipping fee a little.

All,

I promise not to bang on about how good the OC L5 is. But I’ve had some immaculate shaves with this one using what could be considered cheaper shaving creams, Wars / Bond / Lea. Cracking creams!

I thought I’d go back to these as I have been a little spoilt with some of the more premium (to me anyway) soaps.

Happy to confirm it’s a keeper and works with a number of blades. Zero issues. And great results.

I promise to try the L4 next time and provide my thoughts on here. And then I’ll stop rambling on!

Best,

Ben

Evening all,

So I had a go with the OC L4. Another flawless shave. Hard to tell if there is more noticeable blade feel between the 4 and 5. It’s marginal. Another flawless shave, very clean and close. Zero issues.

I’d certainly say the OC L4 feels like it performs better for me than the SB L4. I don’t have the SB L5 so can’t compare those.

I have had great results with both the SB and OC. The performance is marginally better and I’d be happy with either if I’m honest. But given the choice the OC just swings it.

Have a good evening all.

Best,

Ben

Gentlemen, if you are considering a very efficient, effective, and smooth razor that won’t hurt your wallet, you need to buy this razor before you miss out. I love my lvl 5 OC and highly recommend it. Here’s mine with a Windrose handle.

Received my Era today, really happy with the feel and weight of it. Balance seems nice.

Only possible issue is a fairly noticeable mark on the top cap, have contacted Shane just to enquire about it, shown below.

Do you mean on the sides of it, or the actual teeth themselves? I’ll have to have a feel of my plates
This is my second Era with the OC 3 plate.
The first was lovely and smooth in use but I foolishly sold it.
The one I recently purchased isn't smooth at all. The 3-d printing looks rough and the edges of the teeth are sharp.
I've given the teeth a file to make them smoother and remove the sharp edges.

As CNC Milling is my day job, I'm relieved that 3-d printing has a way to go before I'm unemployed lol

Ha!

I’ll have a look out then when I shave with it, never actually used a 3D printed anything before!
