You also have to consider that the situation is different depending on where in the world you live. This forum is basically UK/Eurocentric in its outlook. Conditions elsewhere as to legislation, availability of charging points, cost of an EV and so on may be different. I'd bet it varies greatly depending on the region in the US or Canada that you live in. One thing for sure is that it is not currently a one size fits all solution no matter where you live.

We are in a transition phase at the moment in moving from ICE to EV vehicles and the move to EVs will only accelerate as current issues against their adoption are solved. Personally, this transition phase could have been made a lot easier by the powers that be.

It’s never going to be zero let’s be honest, from the rare earth minerals to the power stations that provide the electricity etc.
If you knew my previous stance on EV’s you’d be rolling around laughing at me even having a test drive.

If something were to happen to one of our cars (2013 RAV4, 2013 FRS) I’d replace it with an EV, just to be diversified.

The EV infrastructure has gotten better, and we don’t do road trips like we used to. Will probably look at Toyota/Lexus EV if we need to replace one of them, although the current plan is to keep our current cars on the road as long as possible. Neither have had any issues.

I know and appreciate some don’t like the idea of a EV and that’s fine by me, each to their own. However we love ours. First of all most our journeys are short ones, a charge to 80% lasts a week and costs us around £7.00 to charge that gives 240 ish miles. So we are finding it so much cheaper as a tank a week would have been the normal, so a huge saving. The downside is when we go afar on the odd occasion. Charging it out in the wild does cost more but again it’s with in what we would use in petrol. With carful driving and using the brake regen it can extend the range. At over two tonnes it is remarkable nimble too.
