Acquistion Disorder Killer

When I first started traditional wet shaving, I was set on finding the "right" brush, razor, shave bowl, etc and not have to amass a large collection. I kinda wanted to be a minimalist. I didn't quite make it, but I'm working on those best items for me. I found the razor that has killed my RAD, and with the purchase of a Chubby 2, I hope to have found the brush that kills my BAD. I do keep a "travel" setup (having packed while sick and left all of my shaving stuff on a cruise ship). I don't have as much shaving gear as a lot of folks, but at this point, I can't call myself a minimalist. At some point, I'm going to sale what I find that I don't use and only keep what has a purpose. The only thing I really want to keep experimenting with is soaps. Any one else here looking for that piece of hardware that kills your acquisition disorder?

I've settled on a relatively small number of razors in my collection and I'm satisfied with their performance. I do often wonder if razors like the ATT and Blackbird will suit me though.

As for soap, there are one or two makes that I'd be happy to use and not try any more as long as I could use a range of scents.

That's me. :)
When I do not use a brush, cream, soap, I give it away.
What I want is variations in soaps and after shaves so as to use them according to my mood.

For me the ATT R1 gave me the best shave I have ever had. I was fortunate enough to buy it used, but having used it I would have not problem paying full price for one. Paired with a Feather blade it provided me with the best shave I have ever had.

I am into looking for stuff and buying stuff (shaving related). I have fun bidding on razors on the bay. The time, waiting for the razor to arrive - the first cleaning and polishing it. I do not wanna miss that. :)
When the time is right, I am selling a few razors, that I don't like, but that's not a lot of razors. I keep most of the razors, I am buying.

So there are multiple aspects of this shaving thing that you enjoy? That's pretty cool.
It's the history of shaving, the collecting of old pieces, which are in a good shape and cleaning and polishing vintage razors. And using them of course.
The latest aquisition which I am very proud to have made is an old Gillette vending machine for razor blades. It's an item I do not need to have, but every time I see it, it makes me happy.

But to come back to topic: I yet did not find anything that made me stop buying things. The good part is: I am not into the new stainless steel razors, which cost a lot of money. :p:

I found a razor, brush and at least 10 soaps thatcould kill my disorder. Cause they are all awesome and I don't need anything better. That said I'm still not stopping and I am browsing web shopes all the time.
Mostly for soaps. Have 3 brushes only and 4 razors in rotation. Not into high end badger brushes or stainless razors. That makes me happy so i have a justification for every new soap that comes into the den :)

I have to admit that the razor that stopped me from shopping is one of the new stainless ones. Granted I don't have a ton of razors, but it gave me a better shave than the few that I do have. Soaps are a whole other story for me. I enjoy the different soaps and scents. On mornings that I shave, I really enjoy seeing which scent I want to shave with. All of the soaps that I currently have are very good performers so that's not an issue. On brushes, I alternate between my badger and my synthetics (which are very good without being expensive).

I have only found one thing that stopped any kind of longing for other items. A Mongoose. That is it for me on the SE front. I don't even look at other SE razors anymore.

I think if I get a slant 37c & a Pere Lucien Oud Santal my den will be completed. For the next 5 years at least.

That been said, I will still grab some after shave lotion, blades, or a Haslinger soap(Schafmilch) to have it stocked in my box.

I don't want another soap.

I have three favorite razors which all others pale in comparison to:
Weber (#1 DLC, then ARC & polished), I have all three
Barbaros (Polished TR-2, then TR-1), I have three
Schick Type-O (I have two)

I have many other razors, but the above are my clear favorites. I suppose I'll eventually sell off the others...but it won't be to make room for new ones.
RAD is done.

Brushes? I'm still fighting that battle...
