I understand that you're trying to bolster the argument with the claim that a YouTube video is the only reliable means of determining how brushes are constructed. Clearly this is a trust issue that you have with specific artisans, and not something I'm here to solve.Very true. Everything I've said is my own recollection of what I've thought I have read.
I have no proof. Though technically speaking...neither do you.
At least Simpson has videos showing their knots being made.
However, the point remains: Not every artisan is sourcing pre-made knots from China. It is irresponsible to spread misinformation like this, particularly when credible information is readily available. The same situation occurred recently on another forum (TheShaveNook) - where a member broadly asserted that "Every other artisan brushmaker is buying off the shelf knots from China, Paladin included." Said forum-member was promptly educated by Ken from Paladin, as well as Brad Sears speaking with regard to the BSSW branded brushes - noting that neither buy off the shelf or "pre-made" items, but rather purchase knots commissioned to spec.
If you truly believe that BSSW and Lee are misrepresenting the knots used in the BSSW/M&F collaboration brushes - I'd encourage you to speak to Brad Sears directly. He's approachable and I'm sure he'd be willing to have the conversation, after all - his brand reputation is at stake.
No hard feelings, I've said what I meant to and am happy to let the thread return to celebrating recent acquisitions.
