So do I. Hopefully we won't go out on penalties. That really does suck...

But even a broken clock is right twice and day and you never know with England. That's what drives everyone mad about them 🤯 🤯
Something that occurred for England and Argentina is that others stepped up for the win. I think Kane scored one goal, but Messi didn't. Should be an exciting match.

I just finished this article written by one of your own. In my thoughts, I had antedated the match is more than football for England. Do you agree with what he wrote?
I'm only half awake currently so I would have to say that the article is a bit of an overreach. One thing which I think people in the UK never do is link politics with football. It's a total no go area.

The shared disappointment of successive England teams has built up a picture over the years of ' we'll lose on penalties' or 'we won't get out the group stage' mentality which is hard to shake. There's a quote in it which chimes for me personally...

Me: I don’t know when this started, but at some point I stopped enjoying watching England. It brings only pain.

I literally have to 'watch' the match on the updates as does my Dad. It's too much. You just listen to the screams and cheers out of the window to work out when they score. I'll always want them to do well and win and I do think we'll win the WC eventually again as even a broken clock is right twice a day especially when we keep making the semis. It's all about young players and grass roots. They need to stop hogging the funds at Premiership level and start building a set up which will produce the very best players we can. It's not like there's a cash shortage. My opinion only.

Anyway, I don't give a hoot about where we stand in the world and I suspect neither did any other England fan at full time last night. It's just another in a long line of kicks in the balls ⚽ we just have to get on with. Football isn't politics. To quote Danny out of Ted Lasso...

Football is Life!!! 🙂

Watch this if you haven't. It's a great series about football in the UK.

I was disappointed last night and even sleeping on it hasn’t helped. This morning I just feel flat.

As @Mark12 says, we will win it one day. I watched the 1966 final and would have been overjoyed to watch England win again, 60 years later.

Johnny Bravo

Love Guru to the stars.
I watched England play two games last night, the first half exciting and the second half we seemed to have switched to I can't be bothered anymore.
I am convinced the Argentinian goalie went off for an early beer in the pub because he wasn't needed anymore.
Disappointing and I'm in agreement with the point that politics plays no part in football here.

Now I understand the history between England and Argentina. From the linked op-ed, "The legendary attacker/cheater Diego Maradona scored twice, once brilliantly and the other time with what he later called “the hand of God,” although it was just his literal hand. That still rankles."

Messi had to chase down the ball, remain persistent before launching the ball that would result in a header into the goal yesterday. I would much prefer to see him go out well than as Renaldo did.
