This communicates to me how he remained true to himself, but others had to accept ,
I appreciate your sentiment. I’ve never been much of a spectator. I’m only in this for educational purposes. I did the same with baseball when my son was playing.I am not a football fan, but because @Twelvefret likes to read and share, I read the opinion piece from the NY Times. I commiserate with all my friends who are suffering now. As a lifelong fan of the New York Knicks and also of the (former) New York (now New Jersey) Jets of American football I totally get it. The Jets haven’t won it all since the 1969 season, and the Knicks just ended their 53 year drought. And it’s been longer for England! At least my teams have a fresh chance with every new season, but the World Cup comes around only every few years. It must be torturous for you guys. I’m so sorry for you. Really.
Maybe because they focused on defense Wednesday. There is an old saying of playing not to lose rather than playing to win.It was a crazy game but an excellent result.
The obvious question though is, why didn’t they play like that on Wednesday?

Well, it should encourage you they could have won with the right strategy combination. Yesterday proved they have the talent. All this said if you'd have told me that for the last few tournaments we would have gone nearly all the way I'd have laughed at you a decade ago. I'll take any improvement![]()
There's a definite benefit to being able to use both feet. So few players have this ability these daysWell, it should encourage you they could have won with the right strategy combination. Yesterday proved they have the talent.
I've read Portugal stayed with Renaldo too long. It will be interesting to see if Argentina rests Messi for a while today. His passing is so important, however.
In the movie about the Manchester plane tragedy there was a drill where the player was kicking to hit a bottle or some object. What a great idea.
Yesterday we went to the field aka pitch to practice passing. I asked my grandson to kick the ball to me as if he were using his hands. Also, I asked him to use both feet. Initially he did, but he was rushing. I asked him to transfer right to left and left to right and take his time. He was able to execute it perfectly if he took his time. I explained what we could move back further over time for greater distances.
