nice @Nishy is that the lexus with the toyota badge?

love lexus but never owned one
We’ve owned 2 Lexus and 3 Toyotas and all 5 gave us years and years of reliable service. We drove or two Lexus for 18 years each and one Toyota for 13 years. The other two Toyotas were sold because of a company transfer. My first car, which I purchased in 1971, was a new Corolla. Currently we own two Audis. They are good cars, but when we turn them over about five years from now, when they’ll be 15, we’ll replace them with Lexus or Toyotas we think.

There is a new electric Toyota out in 2023 which, it is said, will blow Tesla into the weeds.

yea the japanese reliability is amazing and i like that the parts are good prices too

i looked and was surprised at the price that those old land cruisers hold compared to the range rover equivalents, like remember seeing land cruisers about 51 plates being over 10k,
probably cost way more now since car prices hit sky high due to covid and lack of stock etc

the lexus/toyota have the best hybrid engines
i really like the lexus rx400h for being such a big car and 3.3 litre due to it being hybrid its so quiet

@saj1985 The now discontinued Toyota Land Cruiser was an amazing vehicle; just like the Energizer Bunny it went on and on. Although I have a sentimental attachment to Land Rovers, they’re not a patch on the Land Cruiser. Toyota still makes the 4Runner, which is a full frame vehicle and great for rough terrain. I’d like to have one, but I think my wife might find it rather harsh for her liking…but perhaps not.

Yea not sure why they discontinued it, it's an iconic car

I assume you're from like the states or Canada, don't have the 4runner here, had to Google it, looks nice and big, I do like big cars

I also love range Rover, I mean the interiors are so luxurious and full of gadgets but I think that's all pointless if the car is known the breakdown

The new RAV4 looks nice and a lot bigger then the older shape

@saj1985 I’m in Canada. The RAV4 is a very nice SUV, but not in the same genre as the Land Cruiser or 4Runner both of which are true, heavy duty off-roaders. As for the ”modern“ Range Rovers, I think they’re best described as “Chelsea Tractors”, unfortunately. If I were in the market for something like a Range Rover I’d probably go with the Lexus GX 460 or the LX if I were feeling particularly flush.

I test drove a Range Rover once, it sounded as if there was a golf ball rolling about behind the dash, the salesman said that some of them do that! He didn't see it as a negative at all.

I know two people with Range Rovers, one has the supercharged V8 with 220,000 trouble free miles, the other has a TD V6 which has been in the garage every month and is now 3 years old with 55000 miles and a broken crankshaft.

the air suspensions are common issue with the l322 range rover and cost a lot to repair

i still think the range rovers are much nicer inside compared to the land cruisers

As the saying goes, “If you want to go into the Australian Outback, take a Land Rover. But if you want to come back again, take a Land Cruiser.”
