yep, the Barbasol eliminates the space needed for a brush and soap. Which leaves room for shampoo, teeth cleaning, Aqua Velva, deodorant, etc. Gotta have your priorities set for a small kit.
That may be the case, but you are ignoring the fact that canned goo is not a traditional way of creating a lather. I carry all the other stuff you mention but that is not part of my traditional shave kit. I'd carry that stuff even if I had a beard.

I started using canned foam in the 1960’s. Were you shaving then? It is what men used way before I grew chin whiskers.
Personally it’s humorous to have to read someone be so insistent about what’s traditional and what’s not. Wet shaving is using water to shave as opposed to using an electric shaving device.
Plus, the open comb came into existence as men moved away from soap in the 1930’s. Its why the Barbasol Floating Head has a solid comb area so that those opened comb type didn’t clog.

My tiniest kit would be this:
Gillette Aluminium Tech, decanted pottle of shave butter (no need for a brush) and decanted Nivea Men Sensitive post shave balm, and sample of EDP (Paco Rabanne). This is enough to last about 5 shaves.
The shave butter gives an amazingly smooth shave with about a pea-sized dot being all that you need for a pass. The tiny white pottle holds plenty for a week. There is only one pottle in the pic because I seem to have left the other one in a hotel room! 🫣

If you want the very smallest, then:
1) Fusion 5 Cartridge razor with spare cart or two in the tray they come in (which also protects the in-use cart whilst travelling).
2) Shave after shower, making sure to use any hair conditioner the hotel is providing to soften the stubble
if we are talking DE shaving then:
1) any razor + head cover or case, with a tuck of blades
2) small synthetic brush (which you can quickly work dry on a towel before packing to leave)
3) half tube of shave cream (usually Palmolive)

I tried the compact kit. Didn’t like it. In fact just yesterday I was looking at my travel kit as we are off to California again next month. At the moment it’s two wash kit bags. One for shaving and the other shower, deodorant and teeth. Plenty of room in the checked luggage why not if you can?

i agree
i travel regular and tried to have one of everything but i just wasn’t enjoying it.
When im abroad i normally have up to 8 sets of everything but i am away for 8 weeks at a time.
Recently iv been trying to cut back to two or three sets and at times iv took 4-5 different shave sticks.
If you’ve got the room get it packed in.
But i do like the idea of a travel kit or weekend kit
