edit: This version plods. I remember saying that then, sitting in the audience. Frankly I’m surprised it’s the band’s official video version. Bobby used to try to see how slow they could do certain numbers. You can see Jerry’s amusement at around the 7 minute mark. In general, I think Bill and Mickey liked playing things more uptempo. After Jerry died, it became an increasing issue within the band. The tension exposed other cracks which became fissures. Eventually their differences became irreconcilable. First, Billy left the band, then Phil. Now we wait and see what Mayer will do with the legacy Bobby left for to him to carry on.
