For me it was a bit like going to the toilet - after a couple of accidents, I pretty soon learned what was needed without needing to be shown. The fact is, I learned far more after joining forums like this - I guess that applies to all of us.

I taught myself. My father shaved with an electric razor. He gave me one when he felt I was old enough to shave. I tried it. For about a week. It didn't do anything except irritate my face. Switched to a cartridge and a can of foamin' goo almost immediately.

Was taught by my granda on a de razor. It's all I ever used. Had to return to lather school after 44 years with the new thirsty artisan soaps

you know what i've been thinking the last few days about getting my son a de razor set,
i really want to be the one that teaches him how to shave tbh,
hes young and not even 10 yet but im already thinking about it,
maybe something engraved if thats even possible like?

I watched my barber do it then tried on my own using a straight I borrowed from a friend.. Cut myself countlessly until I had my own technique.. Thanks to my generous friends letting me borrow their stuff for a while before I invested on my razors..
I never fully shave my face, I'd look like a teenager if I do.. LOL

i dont shave my facial hair but when i used to i used to have a goatee or something because i use to hate the look of being clean shaven,
i didnt think that it suited me tbh

Like many others I taught myself.
I started with a cart and canned foam. About two years ago I decided to make the things in my life I disliked and were inevitable into something I enjoyed. Shaving was one of those things.
I love shaving now.
