What Were Popular UK Aftershave Splashes Back in The Day?

The only aftershave I remember my father using was Brut. After most shaves, however, he used Noxcema cream, which he also used as a pre-shave.

I think they were talking about the design of the bottle... Not The Beatles (hence the "bottle design 1959 to 1969")

I remember my Father always used Old Spice and Insignia Aftershave..though not a British product I believe it was made by Shulton (U.S) He also used Aramis Cologne when going to dinner with my mum (I remember the scent vividly as a kid).

As for my Grandfather on my Mother's side (according to her) he used Goya Cedar Wood. I have no idea as I only ever saw him shaving once and I was quite small..though I remember he used a straight razor..I was fascinated by him stropping the blade. I remember the strop was attached to the bathroom door. Cool memory.

Brut and Old Spice. Always remember my grandad using those and letting me splash on a bit. The smells still remind me of him as does Bay Rum hair tonic and Coal Tar soap though you can't get the proper stuff anymore since the EU banned tar in soap grrrr.

Old Spice for Dad. Brut for the young me but what really stands out is Brylcreem hairstyling product and the scent it carries.

My old dear had a recent clear out , old bedroom stuff of mine, gave me a box full of crap. Had an unused Brut deodorant from the 80's, with the domed base, still smells ace! Not used in anger though!

I have previously indicated that I used to use Yardleys Black label, and after that became unavailable used Old spice.
Only used After Shave at weekends, as being in the Forces in the Early Sixties- the use of such goodies, would single you out for some derision if used prior to morning parades.

Yeah Brut Yardley Black Label all the usual suspects, my first what I would class as adult scents would be Aramis Paco Rabbane and Givenchy. PS even now if I smell Aramis it transports me back to the 70s and memories of lots of lovely Women and more sex than you could shake a stick at.
