For me it's better in the morning as my skins seams to be relaxed after sleep and I shave before work. Over time it has become my routine for starting a day.

For me i like to shave in the morning to benefit from it the rest of the day altho shaving in the evening is very relaxing as well it doesn't matter really as long as its enjoyed.

Used to be morning for me when I was a cartridge shaver but now it’s the evening/nighttime always for me. I like to take my time with the shave and cleaning the gear afterwards. All in all can take 20-30 minutes for the whole process, time I just don’t have in the morning.

Completely get the time thing. I work all kinds of shifts so time available has little to do with time of day. 30 mins to have a luxury shave and clean the kit is lovely. I’ve even, when on last night shift, had a shower and a shave before snooze. Actually pretty nice.

I always made time by getting up earlier. That’s obviously a choice - but I’ve had jobs that needed various get-up times so varying it is no great problem to me.

There actually are people who like to take their time shaving. To me, it's "me" time. Nothing else exists, just the joy of the whole process of lathering, mowing whiskers, cleaning up, applying aftershave... And after that, tje joy of feeling well shaved and the scent of the AS. When i was starting up, about a year and a quarter ago, it took me a full hour, as it often happened that i ruined the lather and started all over with that, but i never took notice of time consumed. Now, it's arround 20-30 minutes of relaxed, joyful "me" time. Can't wait 'till my son grows a bit to join me, though, at least to get painted with lather on the face... ...

I’m not having a go at anyone here but I honestly don’t know how some of you take so long shaving, it takes me ten minutes, that’s not rushing and doing my head as well. That said, I don’t seem to be able to spend longer than five minutes in the shower either.

Haha yeah i take my time I suppose. Just finished a shave there and was in the bathroom for 25 minutes. That’s disassembling a razor, taking a new blade out and putting it in, picking a soap and brush to use, wet face, face lather, 3 passes, alum block applied and left on while I disassemble the razor, wash and dry the individual parts, rinse the blade, wash out the brush and dry it thorougly, put soap and brush back in their places, rinse of Alum, apply aloe Vera, let that dry a bit and then apply some aftershave.


I mean I get that some of you are quick shavers but I’m still in my first calendar year of DE shaving(was a cartridge user for years) and it’s only in the last couple of weeks where I feel I can shave with a DE without really concentrating and getting the cartridge muscle memory out of my bones. I do feel now that I am shaving correctly with a DE without thinking about it but it is still a work in progress.

Ten minutes for me, and that includes brushing my teeth!

This, with some differences in the process:
