We once had a user who brought a broken screen laptop to us and was in a filthy mood about it. The story went like this:
She was working at home one night, on the sofa, when her sister arrived unexpectedly with her big, bouncy dog (which our user hated).
Our user was working on financials, so quickly closed the lid on the laptop enough to hide the screen, but not enough to trigger shutdown.
The dog bounded across the room straight onto the sofa and then onto the laptop lid, which might normally have been OK, but for the fact our user had left the wireless mouse on the laptop keyboard.
Apparently then followed a furious long argument into the night between the sisters about who was to blame and would pay for the broken screen and bent lid ......
