Okie from Muskogee 1969
We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee
We don't take no trips on LSD
We don't burn no draft cards down on Main Street
We like livin' right and bein' free
We don't make no party out of lovin'
We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo
We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do
And I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee
A place where even squares can have a ball
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all
And leather boots are still in style for manly footwear
Beads and Roman sandals won't be seen
Football's still the roughest thing on campus
And the kids there still respect the college dean
And I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee
A place where even squares can have a ball
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all

I saw this great news report one day about the Canadian Governments attempts to control illicit and un-licensed Maple Syrup production and it was so similar to bootlegging in the US backwoods, with a similar amount of surveillance and law enforcement, just bootleg Maple Syrup not Moonshine

Real Maple syrup is not the same as the fake one made from corn syrup and other things. The producers of real pure Maple syrup are hurting badly financially as a result. It is not much of a joke in that respect.

I do enjoy maple syrup with pancakes and or bacon etc but I tend to wait for it to be given as a gift as it’s fairly pricey here. Lovely stuff but many supermarkets and manufacturers have tried to create their own ‘flavoured’ syrups.

My dad always has a bottle of maple syrup in so I tend to use his 🙂 He always has the ‘good stuff’
