That is the funny thing about these huge fires and the different weather cells associated with them. Depending on which weather cells are moving through it can be either not bad or horrible, sometimes all in the same day. Yea, that is Thunder Bay with a population of over 100,000 and growing with all the evacuees coming here and else where.

This is a minor complaint, but the commercial lawn mowing businesses create a noise pollution. I am one of a few homeowners who mow their own yards. The typical scenario involves weed eaters, blowers, and mowers running, some continuously if a crew. There is no ordnances in place to force mufflers which actually lower the noise.

The noise is maddening! I hate it. The commercial landscapers around here have really pushed the season in the last 30+ years. Used to be April through November. Now, it’s March through December. Over the years the landscaping industry seemingly decided en masse to add another month on either end of the growing and mowing season. In NYC and Nassau County where I now live, the law states that lawn maintenance with noisy a$$ machines may not commence before 8 AM. My next door neighbor’s gardener arrives every Friday morning at 7:40 and wakes me the F U.
The problem with starting cleanups too early is that many insects are still gestating and are in various stages of development until the temperatures are consistently above 50°F for a week. If you wait until then, usually sometime in April, the little buggers will live, birds will feast and thrive, flora will be naturally propagated and you’ll have a thriving ecosystem.
That said, probably some thirty five years ago NASA and NOAA scientists determined through direct and repeated observation over the course of many, many years that along the east coast of North America, the landscape “greens up” (I don’t know the correct terminology) eight minutes earlier every year. That was then. I don’t know if that’s changed since the report. Man made global warming has left a clearly observable and measurable impact on the environment.

Not always true. My wife’s grandfather lived until he was 102. He had no ailments or illnesses. His body just stopped working. In his case it was literally just old age.

I've always waited until 9am to mow or mulch leaves in the Fall (I don't rake). My next-door neighbor's lawn service mows at noon on Sunday, just in time for my nap after church services.
I have a walk behind mower, a weed eater, and a blower. There is no need to rev a weed eater or blower the way riders rev a Harley. Just floorboard and get-r-done.

We were paying a lawn service for the last thirteen years or so, and finally let them go. It was a nice quality of life upgrade for the time, but prices were going up like mad and they were inflexible about the schedule. They usually showed up at about 9:00am on Mondays.
I see it as a toss-up as far as noise pollution goes. Two guys would show up and blitz the whole thing in ten minutes. Whereas some of our neighbors will run mowers, weed-eaters and leaf-blowers all day long from 8:00am. I think it’s just a hobby for several of them, like there’s nothing else they’d rather be doing. In a tightly packed neighborhood like ours, it can seem nonstop on the weekends.
But I’ve been mowing with electrics for a few weeks now and it’s been great. Super quiet. It’s a far cry from mowing the grandparents farm every weekend with a 1970’s-era John Deere rider. Used to take me 2-3hrs hours every weekend and I was deathly allergic in those days. I had to medicate, then out like a light for the rest of the day.
