what is MWF's scent?

Actually, I think he's meddled with olfactology possibly before he started making soaps. He was very active on reddit with perfume reviews and discussion.
Yeah a quick Google put me straight on that so I deleted the second part of my comment!

Will of B&M certainly has a qualified opinion on soap bases, scents and essential oils but his MWF scent speculation, with repeated emphasis on cheap and synthetic, verses his own soaps marketing emphasis about using quality, expensive ingredients, greatly dilutes his argument for me.

Its a certainty that a small batch Artisan is not going to have nearly the ingredient buying power, distribution or production efficiencies that Mitchell's has, so if Will is speculating that MWF contains mainly cheap and synthetic ingredients, simply because it retails for £6 and that quality essential oils are expensive, I'm dismissive of his weak argument.

Yup...that's how his analysis came across to me also.

It's funny that MWF has never caused me any issues in a decade of use and yet, so many artisan soaps (including B&M!) Have caused me to have skin reactions, allergies, migraines etc.

So much for clean and expensive ingredients!!

I would say Lavender & Geranium. Very mild scents like Wool Fat blend in with the soap base, just like the Valobra stick or Cyril Salter soaps, so the scent always seems more complex than it is.

Personally, I have never enjoyed the scent of MWF because of its synthetic soap-like smell which I find to be a bit over-powering.

As the puck wears down and losses its scent, the smell of lanolin comes out quite prominently.

I don't mind the smell of lanolin but I love the scent of MWF so now I only use it ina DIY stick form in order to retain that lovely scent till the last use.

Thanks for the B&M rundown. I still cant place any particular scent. I had faint scent in my last puck that i just finished not too long ago and the new puck really made me realize how much the scent had worn off. Love the scent of MWF though.

I imagine it/describe it as if I were Clyde running from the cops with Bonnie back in 1920's Missouri corn field and happened upon fresh laundry hanging from a clothes line. Just a good old fashioned fresh clean smelling getaway type scent.

I also always thought the Kent version had a unique scent to it so I never got it since I like MWF so much. Is it the same soap just a different name/wrapping? thats what it sounds like you guys are saying.

The scent wears off too much for my liking when used as a puck. I adore the scent of MWF so now I grate it, pack it into a shave stick tube and use it that way.

The tube I use is a push-up tube, not twist bottom so there's no propelling stem going through it. It's brilliant!!

That beautiful MWF scent all the way through from the first use to the last :)

I've had three pucks of the kent soap and it's just repackaged MWF, nothing more.

Pleased to hear that....I was beginning to have doubts due to some of the comments posted in this thread. I have just replaced my (finished) MWF with 2 Kent soaps. It was slightly cheaper and available from my local Pharmacy.
