What’s Your Shaving Routine without irritation?

I’m curious what everyone prefers for a comfortable, smooth shave. Do you use a traditional razor or an electric shaver? And do you have any simple tips for avoiding irritation or razor bumps? What works best for you?

my shaving routine as of late, completely void of irritation, is not to shave. lol

I'll otherwise echo Chris (how do, man?) - don't chase it, stick to one pass with a mildish razor. Unless you have a commanding officer checking with a credit card or something against the grain, I think you'll be fine.

Good hair prep, a crisp new blade in a razor that you enjoy, quality soap and a great looking brush. After the shave I use an aftershave and then Thayers to keep my skin blooming amazing.

Good prep and then go slowly and lightly with a sharp blade. Witch hazel then Nivia ASB

TBH, after the DE shave, if i then want really, really best absolute BBS all over, i will finish off with hot water and go very, very lightly with a Gillette Fusion 5 Proglide (floaty head) in the tricky areas around the neckline.

The hinged Proglide 5 blade head just tracks accurately over the bumpy bits and hunts down straggler hairs in a way i just have never been able to with a DE razor.

Its the best of both worlds for me - I get a beautiful close shave with the DE, without the skin irritation i would get from a full shave with the Gillette

Shave after showering, safety razor, good shaving cream or soap, three pass shave, and then some aftershave balm. Just the basics I learned from the forums many moons ago.

Ideally, every shave is comfortable and smooth. Game changer for me many years ago was beard mapping. Particulary for the first pass, going against the grain unknowingly was my biggest cause of irritation.
