I’ve recently resumed my Star Trek binge-ing (how do you spell that, btw?). I have no life, so about a week was all it took for “seasons” 1-3 of Strange New Worlds. Which is really kind of bogus as that’s about the equivalent to one season of TOS. Yeah, yeah,,, economics, blah blah blah. It’s still bogus. Now I’m about 5 episodes into Discovery. How do they abbreviate this one? I’m guessing, STD. Or not. So far, Discovery is dark. Very dark. Conversely, even during the tense sci-fi moments, SNW has a general lightness, a very campy feeling, much like the original series. Discovery is taking itself very seriously. I also want to get to some of the films I’ve missed, but this thread’s about tv shows, so…

the little bit of the newer Star Trek we got to see... was decent... and you have no life... according to the "Webster's" American Engrish DICtionary used for our Scrabble games... it's binging... hahaha...

Seen it. Right now I’m catching up on everything that was released after the Enterprise/Archer series. And slowly, the movies after the TNG cast’s last major film. What was that, Generations? I’m current with everything up to there. My son-in-law hooked me up with Prime Video, which includes Paramount+ which has pretty much everything Star Trek. I’ve gone back and seen bits and pieces of various shows I’ve already seen. The first “new” series I binged was Picard. And I saw the first film that had a different Kirk, I think it was Chris Pine?

Is DS9 a favorite of yours?

Yes it's a favourite of mine and give the Orville a look, it's not StarTrek but I think you will enjoy it.
Film wise StarTrek 2 wins by a country mile.
