"Call the Midwife". I started it with low expectations, but it's a lovely mix of sweet, bitter and humourous, and mostly rather uplifting.

I love it too, but pictorially it can be rather graphic. I couldn’t watch my own children being born let alone another person’s.

Normally I would watch it...but will be a late starter this year. My wife loves it and in preparation for the Christmas Special she started the 10 series of boxed sets we have. She watched everything twice and was on her third run before the new material became available. I need a break and an opportunity to see something else!

Gasmaman ( Mother Goose) originally a Dutch programme, restyled into Nordic. Really good crime series. The story is from the criminals point of view and perspective rather than the usual police procedural. ( Amazon Prime).

I've been watching Yellowstone and the prequel, 1883. Both are pretty good, and Beth is breathtaking! I've also been watching Dexter:New Blood. Not bad at all if you liked the original Dexter series. Sadly, most television/movies have been ruined and largely cater to the "woke" brigade. Life is becoming more Orwellian by the day.

Just finished season 1 of the X-Files - never actually watched this show in sequence or in high definition.

Frustratingly episodic compared to the likes of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul but it's from the 90s and pre-Sopranos.
Actually I started watching it on a whim after hearing the plot structure of BB and BCS is basically the same, not surprising as they share the same writer.

It’s been a while since I read the book but from memory this doesn’t seem very faithful retelling. In this version Fogg is hardly the stoic hero of the Jules Verne novel.

I watched the first two, not overly impressed.

Not very close at all, aside from the characters' names and the general idea. But I like the actors and their characters, it looks good (albeit sometimes a bit stage-y), and the pacing works. I'm three episodes in and enjoy it; I will definitely finish it this week.

Just an enjoyable adventure, good acting and storyline, it is different from your everyday police drama.
