Oh dear !

My lad is just back from Uni and his masters. He’s been Bloody good at food shopping. He went shopping with mum and told her to buy loose rice as it’s cheaper than microwave ! Ahhh and d9nt forget you need the Nectar app these days as all the offers are on the app.

It’s very nice indeed. Nice after taste too. I don’t drink much these days with my meds it’s best not too. But at least if I do it’s worth a decent drop. I will look up your suggestion, thanks.

They don’t ‘dose’ El Dorado anymore, so their 12 won’t be quite as sweet as the Diplomatico, but you can certainly taste the demerara sugar it’s made from. The Diplomatico’s a great gateway and a very worthy bottle in its own right!

Additional sugar makes some rums close to liqueurs but there’s plenty of good, undosed (or barely dosed) stuff to go round that lets the distillate and tropical aging do the talking!

Well you are opening a can of worms here. I wasn’t aware of dosing, but have enlightened myself a little. That’s also helped, I was looking at a bottle of Bumbu but not anymore after reading up on dosing. I really enjoyed the Diplomatico, in fact I slept like a baby LOL !!! Then I have also seen it is obviously in smaller amounts good for your heart and cholesterol which is a bonus for me.

I’ve been offline for a while so I’m slowly getting caught up. I just saw this comment about El Dorado rum. It happens to be my current favorite but with one difference from @Burgundy ’s suggestion. I prefer the 15 year. I typically drink it neat or with just one rock. I drink my single malts the same way. Actually looking forward to warmer weather because I drink based on the seasons. Scotch (Lagavulin 16) and bourbon during cold weather. Rum in warm weather. Another warm weather favorite of mine is a Vesper martini: Ketel One (3 parts) Bombay Sapphire (1 part), Lillet (1/2 part) and a lemon peel.
