Tea ... who likes it?

I'd love to drink tea, but I'm strictly decaf. Decaf tea is garbage. Decaf coffee is fine if you grind good beans. I have a very good grinder.
Have you tried Red Bush tea, no caffeine and it is claimed to be good for your digestion.

I like a good strong Yorkshire Tea myself and I struggle with fruit infusions and the like but I enjoy a cup of Red Bush, Typhoo also make it but I found it a bit wussy compared to other brands

I tried it once. Looked like the apprentice had swept the floor and put the contents into a tea bag, tasted like it too

Right, time to have a little dabble.
Any suggestions as to vendors?
I am mainly looking at healthy teas/infusions/tisanes.
But would be very interested in trying a decent 'real' tea.

I think I saw these guys suggested earlier.

I used to drink coffee. Used to really enjoy it, hand grinder, local bean guy and an aeropress.
Tea would have to have the spoon standing up in it. with half a sugar and milk.

I think I will try the GABA oolong tea for it's properties too.

So, where shall I start?
I have a teapot :)

Well, the only online vendor I've tried so far is palaisdesthes dot com. Haven't been long enough around here to know whether it's ok to post full working links or not, but they have some really good stuff there.

Beem a great tea lover for as long as I can remember, but it is only after my trip to Sri Lanka that I've become really interested in learning more about it. Before that I used to classify teas in two categories: teas I liked and teas I did not.

I am a big fan of proper Earl Grey, not so much of English Breakfast, and absolutely love Ceylon tea.

Turkish tea is rather nice too although I can't be arsed to brew it properly, I end up brewing it as you'd usually do.

For +35 years I've exclusively been a coffee drinker and have never found a tea I enjoyed. However, with lockdown, an espresso machine within 5 meters so my coffee consumption has been creeping up, and the stresses of working remotely I've been on a minor mission to find a tea I don't find disgusting to try and limit my caffeine intake. I must have tried 25-30 types of tea (all teabags). Lady Grey and Dark Grey, both from Twinings, have both proved quite palatable when drunk black without sugar.

Now that sounds good, I used to buy powdered GABA many years ago as a gym supplement. What a good nights sleep it used to give! Apparently too much can cause weird dreams though! The tea all appears to be loose, no bags! I wouldn't what to do with loose tea!

:) so you reckon it was the GABA not the trip to the gym that helped you sleep?

I am looking forward to the whole loose tea thing.
I am keen to keep away from the tea bags.

My interest is piqued a little here... I DON'T like standard tea, from a tea bag, the likes of Twinnings, supermarkets etc... I don't mind Red bush and green tea, preferably with mint or lemon.
I wouldn't have a clue where to start though and I'm certainly not going to invest a lot of ££ in to try it..
I'm guessing I'd need some kind of infuser/strainer thingy?

I am going with a jug and a plastic seive.

But I have now committed to a bamboo tea strainer which will arrive in a few months

I am trying a few 'normal' teas that have been mentioned here (including the GABA for morning use only)
Matcha and Bukhial as well. Pretty curious.
Plus some stuff like ginseng, rooibosch, echinacea, rosehip, nettle, lemongrass ....
I am hoping i like the ones that I can grow in the garden.
But I thought i would try some that have been made as tea first.

I also tried some ground ginger, turmeric and nutmeg with a dash of acv.
Then the next day, the same simmered in milk for ten minutes (without the acv).

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07L9Q75Z7 - the mesh is pretty fine and does a pretty good job if you just fancy a single cup.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0756WSVPT - works well with a pitcher or a large mug.
I use this as a plus sized mug, though: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B010PIM9MS

Despite a lifelong love of “American” coffee, I’ve developed a taste for jasmine green tea. A local Vietnamese restaurant got us hooked on the stuff. We’re presently experimenting with different brands. It’s actually fun :okay:
