Tea ... who likes it?

I like smokey things. Campfires. Lagavulin 16. And I like Lapsang Souchong when I drink tea. I don't drink it often but my wife likes some tea in the evening so I'll sometimes join her in a cup. She likes the fruity scented ones. This is the one I'm going through now.

If you can get hold of it, the Fortnum & Mason Lapsang Souchong is, in my view, superb. Probably the best I've tasted.

Two bags per cup, I trust ... turns any regular brew into a Yorkshire brew. Nowt wrong with a simple cuppa.

That said, time for the poncey stuff ...
I've found a liking for Sencha of late. Green tea is not really my thing, but I'd started down the Chinese tea (green) route and found little that I like. Japanese, though ... yeah! I think there's a fundamental difference in the processing of the tea.
Anyone else into the stuff?

Fit! Gorgeously malty and toasty. Literally, like fresh toast. Add milk and it gains a real nutty undercurrent, almost like soreen. Bloody lovely! In many ways its like a really smooth Assam. It's the same varietal, afterall.

After reading this thread it’s got me wanting to try different loose teas. Do you think this is decent enough and a good price?

Green tea matcha is quite nice, but expensiveWhen picking up my car(s) from Lexus Stoke they carry out a Japanese tea ceremony. This is seemingly to bless you and the car.

I'm not a big fan of the usual tea flavors but I do like a different type that we call "tea of the mountains" in Greece (don't know if it's available elsewhere, most probably it is).
Boil it in water, pour it to a cup (filtering out the leaves), add some honey and voila! A great cup of tea.

I know this tea. I bought it in Creta. Really unusual and I don't like it. To me tasted somewhat irony.I'm not a big fan of the usual tea flavors but I do like a different type that we call "tea of the mountains" in Greece (don't know if it's available elsewhere, most probably it is).
Boil it in water, pour it to a cup (filtering out the leaves), add some honey and voila! A great cup of tea.

Few brands and varieties I purchased and used to enjoy while living in Asia.
Now all have been passed on to my sister and her family.
The time that I will go back again and immerse myself into tea drinking will come.

Supposedly a French brand of high quality, blended tea of course with a variety of origins.
I've tried a couple of their Xmas teas and they are pretty outstanding.
The one shown herebelow is a white tea.
Shanghai Ganchun Tea
This particular label is some special, black, tea that is considered good for the stomach and bowels.
Tea is compressed and forms small balls, which are wrapped in aluminum foil.
One ball is enough for couple of cups each for at least four (4) people....
Also very much suitable of course for the traditional Chinese custom where you leave the leaves in and continue to refill the teapot with warm water.
One of all these Chinese teas I show here is 10-yr old and preserved before going out into the market.
Just can't remember which one exactly it is.
Chinese white tea
Nice, discreet and light taste, don't know much more about this one.
Shulin Green tea
This one was £80 for the packet you see in the picture.
Nice taste though.
Chinese black tea (this may be the 10-yr old one)
Strong yet refined taste from what I can remember.
To be continued...
