As long as I'm shaving my neck...

Shumate barber's razor
Wilkinson TTO razor
Treet silver carbon steel blade
Van der Hagen deluxe badger brush
William Garvey shaving soap
Afta original aftershave balm
Mennen skin bracer aftershave

Hot water prep

I did my August haircut last night and I couldn't get those long stray hairs on my neck with the clippers. They were annoying enough I pulled out the William Garvey soap and badger. It's a little stressful but I managed to clean up the back of my neck with the straight. I tried the Wilkinson but it was too long for the saftey razor to handle. As long as I had it out and stropped, I did the first pass over my face with the straight. I didn't feel steady enough to do the second pass with the straight, so I cleaned it up with the Wilkinson. I scrubbed off the residual lather with a washclothe and slathered on the Afta. The skin bracer added a bit of soothing and cooling.

Ya think? Good Lord, Man! 🙌
I don’t even understand how to process the other side of my face which my brain motorically and visually interprets as mirror image and backwards. Does that even make sense? How do you shave the back of your neck? Is it by feel or with mirrors? I’d be all upside out inside down.
Respect.

It's by feel and visualization. Back when I was farming there were times when I would have to do a machinery repair bt feel since I either couldn't put eyes on it or I couldn't see it and work on it at the same time. The skill stays with you. Also before my cataract surgery I was profoundly nearsighted. For me shaving is as much by feel as by sight. I angle the blade by how it feels on my face. I hope that makes it clearer.

I used the Schick E and a mirror against the grain.

I much prefer the Vector "Lite" plate compared to the Std. It seems to suit me better. I completed 3 passes for a very comfortable BBS finish.
Enjoy your day all.
