Shaving Recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/Nivea Men Power 24H Fresh Effect Shower Gel.

Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face & head.
Cien PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap.
Brush: Omega 11047 'Mixed Midget' Badger/Boar.
Bowl Lather.
Bowl: Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
Lather: Proraso Sandalwood Shaving Soap.
Blade: Gillette London Bridge. (D1)
Razor: FaTip Grande.

Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's,/ Cold Water Face Rinse./Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse./Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./ L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB./Proraso Sandalwood ASL.

Everything in my shave set up worked together excellently resulting in a enjoyable face & head shave with no errors to report. The FaTip Grande is becoming a firm favourite again.

Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of Proraso Sandalwood ASL.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.😉

First time with a straigth !

This vintage gong razor model 3100, made in Wald Solingen Germany, with its Solinger Magnetstahl carbon steel blade is back from the grinder.
I did not request any mirror finish : the deep pitting and scars on the steel are still showing its age, and I like it this way. Anyway it's carbon steel...
But it sure got its edge back.
I bought a brand new strop.



Scary thing this straight razor ! So I opted for a "composite" shave : straight razor for the cheeks and easy parts on the neck, usual DE Merkur 20C razor for the difficult spots.

Prep:
  • Warm shower with Colorade gel soap

Pre:
  • Isomarine Instant Gel Cleaner
  • Warm Water Face Rinse

3-passes shave with:
  • Brush: Pur&Nat 24mm Synthetic.
  • Face Lather.
  • Lather: Mühle Sea Buckthorn Soap
  • Blade: Wilkinson Sword, 6th shave on this blade
  • Razor: Gong Razor 3100 (cheeks and parts of the neck only) / Merkur 20C (other spots)

Post:
  • Cold Water Face Rinse
  • Isomarine Soothing After-Shave
  • Pur&Nat beard oil

I survived ! With 3 weepers though. I've seen worst with some open comb DE razors.
I'll try the straight razor again, until I get a better grasp on how to handle it properly.
But so far I prefer the DE razor.
