Comments: Using another of my Vintage Gillette’s, this time a Vintage Gillette - 1957 Flair Tip - Double Edge - Safety Razor, with a Wilkinson Sword - Double Edge Razor Blade - Made in Brazil. I really like the Blade, nice cutting, sharp, and no problems. Today was normal routine, three pass Shave, better than NORMAL DFS results, close as could be to a BBS but not BBS.
TECHNIQUE IS KEY, Razor, Blade, Soap seems to be secondary to technique, THREE PASSES, THREE DIRECTIONS. DFS =’s Dam Fine Shave. Last two days Shaves have both been like on edge of as BBS Shaver.
Soap I am using is Heritage Hill John Paul Jones - Made in U.S.A. Found this under some stuff in plastic storage box, the stuff works well, has a nice smell, that disappear in the shower post shave. Think I got the Soap last AZShaveMeetup -2025 Edition, off P.I.F. Table in 2025. Not really a big scent person, but does smell nice, plus maybe because it is TALLOW Based the scent is sort of there even after I shave post Shave.
This Blade, Vintage Gillette work better than great for a 69+ year old Vintage Gillette. Made before I started Junior High School. In my World a Gillette Vintage is the GRAIL RAZOR. Correct me if you disagree
BUT IMHO Technique, Technique, Technique, is more important than SHAVING TOOLS. Never ever will chase BBS, Skin problems, why do I need too? DFS is good enough for me, this Tallow Based Soap provided some extra slick to my shave, over all results were DFS.+++.
