I really hate the roughness of the R41 in the first pass.Today’s shave (off) of the day … Nord Freyja Plate 3 vs Titanium Mühle R41:
The R41 is an absolute beast on the first pass — incredibly efficient and clears growth effortlessly with just a touch up second pass. But on the final ATG pass the Nord Freyja really shines. It’s way smoother, more controlled, and as a result leaves a closer finish with less aggression.
R41 wins as a first pass butcher, but the Nord wins with finesse and easier control

Looks great1960’s PAL Adjustable/Schick blade
The blade holder arrived yesterday. I was prepared for a damaged unit in which the adjustable mechanism would not function. I ran the head under hot water and slowly twisted the adjustment back and forth. Subsequent use of Dawn and hot water did the trick. Now to load a new blade. The old one didn't want to budge. More hot water and patience won the day.
Some reviewers said the angle was different from the Schick holders. I experimented and found a comfortable angle. I honestly could not tell if I was cutting hair or not, but a quick touch communicated the razor was effective. The adjustment is to move the guard closer or further away.
These are pretty inexpensive on eBay. I got this one for $13 plus shipping. Just an update, I polished the stainless steel section with Mothers Aluminum and Mag Polish with excellent results.

That’s so cool your soap stays dry like that underwater! Must be a vacation shot. And you see, this is why it’s so important to bring along a synthetic brush. You just never know when the urge to submerge will strike while shaving.Friday 17th July...
Another good shave with the Lord Platinum #2. Getting better at the lower lip and the nostrils now. The lower lip is cleared mainly with repeated XTG passes with a very wet lather and razor and the nostrils with an almost scraping of the stubble again with a very wet lather and razor while making what I have now dubbed the walrus face by puffing up the top lip.

That came out bigger than planned. That's what rushing will do for you
All good. Bit for the alum block. I think in the long run, a smaller pencil or matches may be better for shavette stuff. The soap was grated Lea sticks. Good thick lather but lower end of slickness.
Have a super Friday and enjoy your weekend...

Congrats on your new blade holder! A very nice pick up. And it cleaned up really well, too! I’ve never used a PAL, so take this with a grain of salt.. I find my Schick and Asylum injectors seem more to be most comfortable and efficient when held like a GEM (or equivalent) razor; nearly flat to the surface. Curious if the gap changes significantly through the adjustment range?1960’s PAL Adjustable/Schick blade
