Some thoughts on Christmas

Not for me. I thought about this a long time ago as a young father. It was more important that I be honest with my children. I didn't make a big deal out of it. I told them it was a fun, tradition.

Same discussion goes for Jesus

But keeping on topic, we always told my son that when he stops believing in Santa is when the stocking stuffers goes away because Santa stuffs the stockings on Christmas. My son is smart and "believed" in Santa well into his 20's.

Christmas is a magic time for kids. Let them enjoy the magic without some Grinch trying to rock the boat

Well, it goes a little deeper than just the Grinch stealing Christmas. Kids sooner or later figure out on their own that Santa Claus is not real.

Our country is no longer a predominately Judaeo Christian but has large numbers of member of other religions. It may be a good time to consider making them feel more comfortable about the Christmas Holiday season. Nobody is suggesting banning Christmas altogether but how to make it more inclusive if possible.

Inclusive yes. Jesus wasn’t born on Dec 25. Therefore, no reason anybody or anyone can do anything they want. My concern, as stated, is lying to your children and insisting Santa is real. It’s not as benign as adults think. I’ve read about children finding out and having to deal with their parents.

didn't see the story... as a kid my parents were divorced and poor... my bday is in december if i got a gift it came as both bday and xmas on either day... santa was just the xmas guy plastered everywhere... there has been some family and friend gatherings on xmas and the one family is religious and stopped the family gatherings, i believe the few of them only doing their cult things had them stop the gatherings(not just xmas)...

xmas stuff is just to fill corporate pockets it starts during halloween...

heysus became a lich on dec 25 right?...

My daughter seems to have survived both believing in Santa and figuring out that he's not real.
