This is our first Simpson Brush, only been wet-shaving about 6months. Began with a Semogue 830 boar hair, since wasn't certain I was going to enjoy it so very much.
Once I got my technique down, and was able to produce some really nice lathers (that took awhile) the gf got me this Simpson Chubby 2 Manchurian in the Sapphire. I got her involved in wet-shaving and it's been a great experience.
(kinda think she bought the Chubby 2 for herself, disguised as a birthday present for me. lol)
Did not know about the 48-hour drying time needed, so still using the Semogue 830 every other day, such a difference in comfort and ease of use ability to create a beautiful slick and cushy lather with either the PAA Beach, Gondolier, and Aqua DG, and the Barrister and Mann Cologne Russe and Seville.
-For the Barrister and Mann soaps I leave a bit of water in the Semogue 830 and rotate around the puck 25times for an ideal slickness of 10.
-For the PAA soaps I dial the water content of the Chubby 2 down to damp with an extra shake and rotate around the puck 16times for a brilliant cushy lather and a wonderful slickness of 9.
-Have not tried the Chubby 2 with the Barrister and Mann soaps yet. We have Le Grande Chypre and Reserve Waves arriving this week so will give it a go.
-I'm guessing with the Chubby 2 and B&M: leave some water in the brush and rotations probably around 20. More than the PAA soaps and less than the B&M using the Semogue.
Here's some early photos day-one when the brush arrived. Will add more recent later today. The Chubby 2 hairs really have spread out a great deal since that first day.
And yes, we plan on picking up another Simpson, thinking a Chubby 3 Manchurian in Candy Stripe would be very nice.
