Silver anyone?

I’m really struggling to understand Muhle’s marketing strategy. The titanium R41 for example, if they did an online sale they would have sold out in seconds. Seems to me that they are completely detached from the wet shaving reality. They should just make their most popular razors available in SS or titanium and sell them online like everybody does

The world of shaving does not begin and end in the forums .
I just make a statement.
after several years they are still on the market and the R41 is still a legend.
many others we will see how it goes ...

It's worth considering they have the actual sales numbers and we don't (unless you managed to find them somehow).
I suspect they might not understand the enthusiast market all that well, but it isn't like they haven't had releases for it.
I reckon that the titanium R41 was a somewhat questionable attempt to optimise away the shipping and distribution costs on their side to some extent.

I do agree that making SS versions of the R89 would make sense, though.
Even if they made a cast steel version of the R89 it probably wouldn't be too expensive, although people used to CNC machined razors might scoff at them, and they might not care with Rocca being available.

I'm sure the TI R41 was sold that way to boost shop footfall post-Covid which is a valid strategic objective

As for the silver R89, that is a bit more difficult to fathom due to both cost, relative softness and susceptibility to oxidisation

It would appear to be a razor which is firmly in the "collectors' item" category, where it might never see a blade or a speck of soap in, or on it. I'm reasonably au fait with collecting razors, some quite valuable, but nothing like this, and I'd say this is in the outer reaches of razor collecting. In fact, it might well appeal to a silver collector, although I doubt that the first port of call for someone with that interest would be a razor manufacturer/website.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see how it sells.

It looks beautiful, but it's going to be hellish expensive and doesn't sound like a practical choice of material. A stainless 89 I would buy.
