Saponificio Varesino - artificial scents?

Hi all
I’ve had 3 SV scents now (tundra, felce, mana). The soap is an amazing performer, no question there. Slickness, cushion, post shave etc etc all wonderful. My issue is the scents - I tire of them all within a couple of weeks and I don’t get this with other soaps. They begin to smell artificial to my nose and not as nice as when I first opened them. I’m not saying the scents change, it’s my reaction to them that changes. With something like wickhams 1912 (as an example), the scents smell natural and my response does not change over time. I don’t think it’s boredom of a scent (which is something I can be guilty of). I wonder if it’s something to do with the artificial fragrance oils they use and does anyone else react like this (or is it just my personal response)?

I had a similar experience... Probably one of my favourite soaps from a performance POV, after acquiring one I had four different scents within two weeks along with the matching aftershaves but not long after I got sick of the scents and sold the lot. As you say, they become tiresome and sickly very quickly... I can only liken them to shower gels or something like that.

I still like them but very much in moderation. I suspect they are perfect as part of a large rotation.

I had about 4 complete sets (Tundra, Dolomiti, 70TH and Cosmo). Sold them. They started to smell all alike, except for the 70Th. Now i bought a Felce to give that one a go. Great soaps performance wise tho.

Great performance, one of the best in the market. But I have the same experience with the Stella Alpina. Even though I liked it a lot at first, now it comes really close to making me sick every time I open its bowl and sniff it (the smell is the same). If I use it every now and then, I can stand it.

Besides the Alpina, I have also the Tundra Artica. Honestly, I like its scent, at times a lot. However, if I use it too often, this odd feeling strikes again!

To be fair though, this is not an exclusive problem either of Saponificio Varesino or of a soap/cream. Every scent, the more complicated, strong, or strange it is, the less tolerable it may become, especially in the long-term. And this is one of the reasons why fragrance making is far from an easy task.

Me too, I had and still have many SV and I agree with you gents: performance wise they are Greta sopas, among the three best for my skin/beard, but they lack in fragrance.

In my opinion, they deserve a better choice of fragrance.

To be honest other soaps, as already pointed out, seem to have same fragrances or tire you a little; I am thinking to NSS original recipe that to my nose smell quite the same despite their labels, even if are pretty good performers

I have the SV Colonia, Dolimiti, and Felce Aromatica. They are well over a year old. I find each to have its own distinct scent. To me, very mild. I like the scent of each. They give fantastic lather. Easy to lather. Close comfortable shaves. I am open to any PIFs.

To be honest. I find that with a lot of soaps especially artisan. I don't know if is the soap bases they use, the scent strength (too strong) or just the combinations.
